I know I've seen foreclosed homes with neglected yardsI just heard about a site that you can report the companies that own the house that the yard is being neglected.http://lenderoffender.com/top25lenders.php?page_id=80.Does this bother you that these yards are making the neighborhoods look trashy?

does the neighborhood and other homes also reflect on the value of your home?

it may effect the value of my home , but i have better things to do with my time then worry about what the neighbors yard is doing to the value of my home . the beautifull part of this country is that it is a free countrty . it's not my place to tell someone how there yard can look . none of my buisness . it's there right thats why i served this country so people can enjoy there rights . even if they wanna be slobs . they dont tell me how to keep my yard . i'm not telling them . life is short .

yikes Dan, wasn't personal scared

If you're ok with your property value decreasing, yay for you.

Where I live most homes have HOA's which all homeowners know and abide by - don't agree with all of their by-laws but this being a free country and all I had a choice of living there or elsewhere.

To each their own and thank you for serving in our military. flowerforyou

I agree. also, any company that expects to sell a house to recoup any losses, will keep it nice to sell. there are city ordinances (at least here) that fine people for it. I don't have to worry about others because the city will handle it

i understand that the thread was lender offenders but it is the same thing none of my buisness . obviously the banks have no time to worry about the yard there alot of houses being foreclosed lol . and fran dont get me wrong i'v takn nothing personaly if you thought i did i appologize . i dont take things personaly . there is just a reason i dont live somewhere with an hoa . and that reason is i wont have anyone tell me what i can do with my house and i wont tell anyone else what to do . if i wanna paint my house pink i will . but i do agree with you if you live with an hoa you have to keep it clean or there is a penalty . and if you wanna complain move away from the hoa you signed the contract .

Personally I don't care to live next to someone that treats their property like a local trash dump, and yes it does affect the resale value of your own home and others.

I had such a neighbor for 3 years, they have lost their home to forclosure and left the property as bad as they kept it. I cleaned it up so that at least it doesn't look trashy. A person should not have to be told by neighbors that there property looks terrible and affects all the homes in the neighborhood, they should already know that but some just don't care, and as one said this is a free country.

However you can bet you will have problems selling your home if the neighbor is a trash collector. All the neighbors here keep their yards tidy, even though this is not a high end area, and there is no homeowners association. I am just lucky that I and most of the neighbors care how their area looks.

If I wanted to live in dump site, I would have searched for one...

The last neighborhood I lived in, one neighbor collected junk as well and had it everywhere, the houses for sale on that street sat there for years not selling because of it, then the trashy neighbor died, relatives cleaned it up and all the remaining houses sold with in a year.

the thread is about the lenders not home owners. where I live, the city will fine people (not to keep the yard like better homes and gardens) but certain things (like high grass) has all sorts of things hiding in there.

if a lender wants to sell a house...they will make it presentable to attract buyers or they lose money. lenders want money

ABSOLUTELY!!!!

The banks got the bailout money, not the people! By not calling a yard company they are denying jobs (even if most employ alien born workers) and not putting the money back into the ecomomy.

That in itself is reason to complain aside from the fact that their actions cause others grief.

They would be the first to complain if it was your yard in that condition near a house they had someone interested in!

Kind of makes them almost unAmerican in my book, not doing their part to give back!

I respect Dans right to his own opinion, but I can't defend his opinion. It is that attitude that got us where we are.

If the government and corp execs weren't out of control with their spending, and some of the money had been used for citizen "watch dog" comittees instead of private jets and month long vacations in paradise..... you get the picture.

Dazzle us with brilliance while baffling us with BULLS**T! NOW WE HAVE TO BAIL THEM OUT?

THE MONEY SHOULD HAVE GONE TO THE PEOPLE WHO WOULD HAVE PUT IT BACK INTO THE ECONOMY....PROBLEM SOLVED! INSTEAD, "HEY, LET'S BORROW SOME MORE SO THE BANKS CAN MAKE MORE UNPAYABLE LOANS TO OUT OF WORK PEOPLE, SO WE HAVE TO RAISE TAXES FORCING MORE PEOPLE OUT OF WORK!"

Your tax dollars at work.... THANK YOU SIR AND MADAME REPRESENTITIVES FOR BEING SO INTELLIGENT ON OUR BEHALF!
