The stupid (me) got punished, and the terminally stupid (her) got jailed.

Couple of times. Unfortunately, it's not so easy to identify them up front.

I've been in a couple of relationships where that essentially took place. Heck- I've got family members who're that way, too. It's never a good thing to deal with, either.

...I'm up to 14 of them. Whether using me for money, sex, or status elevation- its been a bumpy ride and made me quite gunshy. From outright stealing to simple slight of hand. From 2 deceitful runaway brides to groceries that never made it out of the paper bags and into my cupboards. To excuses and blaming inanimate objects- I've heard and seen it all. I've learned quite a bit about users and can now smell them a mile away.

And as others have said- most of these "users" portrayed themselves in the beginning as someone they truly were not. They gave you an illusion instead of a real perspective of who they truly are.

No one since my ex. I try not to repeat mistakes.

And its not just relationships. I went to go cash some gold last weekend at a brokerage and discovered I'd been robbed. It didn't take long to figure it out. I have a cousin who unfortunately has a drug habit. He's been dry off junk for years. Got back to using we figure in august. He robbed his own brothers home right before the holidays. Walked in portraying himself as just visiting and walked out with valuables. He stopped to visit me at this time frame also- just a freindly visit supposedly. I went to the bathroom and came out and caught him noodling through my unlocked tool storage bins where my gold was. He is now disowned and its really not good to have the nickname "Thief" in a small town. I feel used.

Bet we won't see his b!tch ass at any family reunions in the future.

I have had a few try but if you just give people a little time and watch it is pretty easy to catch onto them. They seem to have an attitude that they are entitled, they are always trying to get over on someone, or beat the system. Life has just never been quite fair to them. You really love them they think you should be glad to do for them even though it is almost always one sided.
