Since I have neither it is probably unfair to some degree to say To or Not To use either.
But from what has been explained to me access is virtually open to anyone anywhere and that people reveal a great deal of very personal information on these sites. Useing their name, photo, talking about their day to day life, telling who their friends are, medical issues, ect.. To have Privacy, or set it aside,is a right. I would say that any competent adult has the right to tell what they please and own the consequences good or bad. I am not sure the average person is really able to comprehend what they are biteing off because it almost infinite the risks that are possible with this kind of exposure. Most people live in a relatively normal situation where life threatening crime is a relative unknown until it hit's them right between the eyes. When it does they have no skills or resources to cope. A person is attacked/exploited it is the community that gets to clean up the mess. How many crimes are we spending millions on trying to solve if these victims did not have such unlimited access? Especially children. Parents unwittingly are totally handing over their children to the world. What I also question is how often are people abridgeing another person's rights by telling their bussiness by default. It is one thing to watch a person with their knowledge and in person but to have your life reported and disected on a world wide forum, even in bits, puts the notion of Privacy right out the window. If I knew a person who did this I would be very distant and fast and I am probably the least private person you could meet. Since you do not always know what is a person's secrets this can be a really dangerous thing to do. My situation is I have little or nothing to loose if my life were to be publiclly disected. I don't have relationships that would end, I will not probably seek another job, my income won't stop, already uninsurable, and I have no need for credit or credibility but that is pretty rare for younger people thus the risk if someone has information that could affect those decisions. Especially the decisions that are being made about you before you even know they are being made. Yes I think it is probably going to be regulated eventually but for awhile the people in power have a whole lot of power over the average person. Folks better live in such a manor that they are willing to answer for all of their actions regardless if they are having a bad day or not. |

I choose not to live paranoid or fearful. I have no secrets. Nothing to hide. In fact I like living transparently. It's healthy for the soul. I am a pretty private person as to relationships etc .. yet I love being open & having no skeletons. Just me. As to big brother .. meh. There's nothing for me to hold onto there. It is what it is |

I won't even get on myspace any more. Some pages make my computer crash and there is just too much crap on most people's pages. I like facebook. It's allowed me to keep in touch (and get in touch) with many of my friends and relatives. The whole environment is much more subdued, but still plenty of fun to be had. Facebook seems to me to be more of a networking site, personal and professional. Absolutely .. on the networking. Which is why I joined for the most part. Last thing I needed was another page to check but this one might actually pay off. |

I switched from Myspace to Facebook. I think Myspace allows for more personal creativity though.

I've have had some problems there, the site is way too slow, scammers, got a virus on my computer from there. I like facebook, all my friends from where I grew up are there, the different groups you can join such as the schools I went to, some of my friends businesses. I have yet to run into the crap tou see on myspace there. It's a great way to stay in touch with friends & family, plus alot of people I know have already switched over to facebook. |
