I want to be with someone for love only wasted enough time feeling obligated At least you know your goal, and have a plan to achieve it. That is a great confidence to enjoy. Going my way of old Contented more or less I dreamt not life could hold Such happiness. I dreamt not that love's way Could keep the golden height Day after happy day, Night after night. .....Marriage by Alfred Noyes |

Have you ever stayed with someone out of pity? No, but I have stayed years out of devotion and confident love, even after the easy spark of hot love had flickered out. Being caught up in pitying over a long period is not favorable to the receipient or to the giver. "Of all emotions, pity is the hardest to endure, especially when it is deserved. Hatred is a tonic, it quickens the spirit, it inspires vengeance; but pity kills the spirit, it intensifies our weaknesses, it cripples us." - Honore de Balzac |

Have you ever stayed with someone out of pity? No; and I would never want someone to stay with me for it, either. |
