Is religion used as a way to express one’s hatred towards their fellow man and to the human race…to tell others that they will burn in hell or are condemn to hell to burn for all eternity..why would someone even join such a religion that make promises to torture people just because they won’t join their religion isn’t it the same as joining a vicious street gang that make promises to spread chaos and mayhem among those that are not a part of their gang

To have a religion can be a way to find peace and reach contentment within oneself, but add in the fact that others that you know and love will be tortured for eternity and if one can still find peace in this only displays hatred toward others and not love

Not really. Some religions seek peace and beauty while others are a control play for your heart and mind.

all religions are about control and following strict rules to reach a certain goal but do all religion contain promises hidden or otherwise of eternal damnation if you don't follow the rules

That is untrue!
Buddhism!

It is the only religion that is more open in a lot of ways and less hypocritical.

I have studied a lot of different religions and Buddhism is the most 'innocent.'

There is a saying in Buddhism that if you meet someone claiming to be the Buddha to kill him because Buddha is part of all of us. Granted Buddha was a man but he taught that his teachings were what he meant hence his words, kill the one claiming to be THE Buddha.

Even Jesus in the bible warned of false prophets (cough, cough, Catholic Church).

Most religions are crap though. There is truth in all of them but likewise they are also full of lies.

In the bible Jesus is asked about what made a proper church. Jesus said all ground was gods, all ground was holy, and the church was us and around us wherever we went. I used to get into it with Catholic Priests about the whole concept of the church and what Jesus taught contradicting one another.

Most sell salvation. Others don't.

If they demand blind obedience they are definitely wrong!

don't you see the control in that...it's a way to make sure no one use Buddha's name

imagine if anyone named their kid Buddha and someone ask them their name and they said Buddha...they would have to kill them

people believe Buddhism is about not worshipping a God but they are in fact worshipping Buddha and the philosophy is about turning people submissive

Yes...

Religion has been used to place self above others (while claiming it's doing the exact opposite). Telling others they'll surly burn in Hell for not accepting all tenants of their particular religion is little more than an expression of disdain for anyone different who will not to step in line.

I don't remember Buddhism being a religion... But I think anything that people become obsessive about can become mean spirited and ugly.

Buddhism does not posit a god. I really wouldn't call it a religion.

People worship other people all the time, but Buddha said it clear as day that he was not a god, but a man.

If we believe anything jesus's followers said about the man then we have to accept that he really believed he was god.

Man hasn't changed much if you watch the Christian programing on TV, Many of them start believing they are prophets as well.

"Bushidobillyclub" ..if would have been hubris of Buddha to claim that he was a God ....in fact did Jesus ever claim to be God or the son of God but yet he is claimed to be God

it's all part of the con...don't tell people you are God and then you won't have to prove that you are a God but just act and speak in parables like a God

when people speak in parables they can can change the meaning to fit any ocassion ...like horoscopes

Krimsa's photo

I think Jesus just spoke in parables so he would confuse them and they would go to hell.
