....outside tonight with a cup of hot water. They're predicting it will be -50 with the wind chill. Think the water will freeze before it hits the ground? Tell me about it! Grrr! I hope I can get my car started in the morning. The cancelled school in my parts...how about you? Haven't heard any cancellations for my area. I hear ya about the car! I don't have a block heater, so I'll be setting my alarm to get up & go start it around 3 & let it run for 1/2 hour.

cripes sakes thats a 100 degree difference from here..... time to come vacation in oregon! burrrrrr That's with the wind chill added, though. Actual temp with no breeze, etc. is about -9 right now. Oregon is beautiful! I'd love to visit some of the parks out there sometime.

I'd love to visit some of the parks out there sometime. i used to have lots of wind in a different town here in oregon but it only got to -17 there course the winds were like 65 mile an hour quite often geesh i dont miss it there!

I just threw hot tap water into the air and about half of it vaporized instantly.. the other half fell to the ground.... guess the water wasn't hot enough. I'm guessing that'll happen when I do it, too. Nights like this make me think of the winter stories Grandpa used to tell...(I think they were Paul Bunyun stories?)...about when winters were so cold that people words used to freeze in the air & they had to wait til spring to find out what the other one said. And the flock of ducks that had their feet frozen into the pond and they flew off with the pond..

Nope. Didn't freeze before it hit the ground. Pretty much the same thing you saw,parttime_vikingfan.
