I was trying to set up an account online several years ago. I called the guy up and... well... English was not his first language. He set up the account for me and told me it would be on in the next 15 mins. Well I waited and waited and it still didn't work. The next night it still didn't work so I shot off an email. He wrote me back saying "your account smorkle is being on" and so, it just stuck. I've been using it as an online nickname ever since. I've often told people it was an acronym cause I like to see them try and figure it out, but the fact of the matter is it was just a MISTAKE!
