i'm still waiting to hear the rest of the question... personally, i'll be doing both... i'm not a spoiled little rich girl who has mommy and daddy to pay for everything...

my title got cut off sorry to those who are confused this was my question. if you go to college before holding a full time job do you think youll be better off in the long run or do you think its best to start working a job when u graduate high school so that you can start saving while getting feild expeirence and promotions?

It all depends on readiness and philosophy. I would think stock piling cash is the way to be at such an age. Use some of it to get out and explore the jungle. Going into huge debt right away without so much as a single realization seems risky.

While one is young and spry they should do part time for both. That way they are working so they do not have to take out so many loans to go to school and they are getting some school in also. One never knows what may happen and they may need whatever schooling they have to use to get a full time job, schooling usually makes a person a higher wage earner in most jobs.

i went to school full-time and worked full-time...it was a hell of a hastle, but i worked hard and graduated magna cum laude

it all depends on what field you want to get into whether you should jump right into college or take some time to build up "field" work...if you want to go into business then i would say that you should try to find a job......if it is somehow academic related, however, then i think you would be better off just getting it over with and finishing it sooner

Based on prior posts from you, I'd say if you have an option to go to college, use it, decide on a direction, and commit to that direction. college or no college, learning never stops.

It's always better to go to college before working full time if you have the opportunity, right after high school.

Why? It's simple. There is no amount of experience that will more qualify you for a profession more than higher education. A job could prepare you for a higher job, but oops, in the eyes of future employers that will pay you the big $$$ don't really care how hard or how much you've worked in the past.

All you will really learn while trying to get ahead is 'Damn, I should really get my ass back into school!'

when you graduate highschool spend that summer being a highschool graduate, spend the summer having fun and having sex and doing all those things you should.
But make sure, when fall comes, you have finances in order, and a collegiate mindset.

School first, if you are still in highschool and want to get a jumpstart in the field you wish than yes, take a part time job in that field no matter what level.

But I suggest not to rush it so much. There is a perfect amalgam of experience and studying that is not to be dismissed, that you should not dismiss, in order to rise in the pecking order.

You can not chomp into the feild you want without the correct set of chops.

BOTH MY BEST YR WERE IN COLLEGE

The Dean of the school of business that I attend which is in the top 20 in the nation says that I will get hired before people with a higher gpa than mine, because I can work and go to school full time. And I work two jobs, so I have no personal time.

I know that I wish I had finished my education, gotten a degree, before my divorce anyway. It's hard to get a good job when you don't have that piece of paper.

Right. It's easier to excel in a career when you're well prepared and that paper gets your foot in the door.

Regardless of how hard we work in life and how we prepare, we must always have our eye out for new opportunities.

wow, i honestly didnt think that every one would have almost the same opinion on this. i have graduated high school right now im looking to go to truck school and work as a driver for my company. my foot is in the door with them i just have to wait until im 21. but i agree that college is a very good way to go but ok would any one agree with me if i said that a guy with, lets say 20 years experience no schooling with a job that needs a college degree, would get that job over some one who just graduated college?
