rivame, hopefully other people will jump in here also to help you with
this problem. I don't understand what you mean by: "I keep getting an
internet window come up.".

It sounds like your browser is opening a new window for you, for the IM
client used by JSH.

If so, that would mean you JSH account is set up correctly, and also
that your pop-up blocker is properly disabled. (Which would leave me
clueless about what's wrong).

Can you share more information? Has it ever worked for you? Do you get
any error messages?

Rivame, do you see a message showing the download/transfer of a file
(which is the IM client) ? Or a message confirming that a connection has
been established? How about any words written by the other party?

On some computers that all takes a long time, plus you have to wait for
the other party. Maybe you aren't waiting long enough?

Rivame, BigPappa inspired me: After it connects, you will need to
*left* click in the correct box.

At the very top you will have information about the other person. Below
that there is a scrolling space for the conversation to be displayed.
Right below that is where you want to type - on my screen its a dark
blue rectangle. You may have to left click in that rectangle before
typing. You will then see a blinking cursor to the left.

This is right above some other buttons, including the 'send' button.

I hope this helps. It might help if you write down what you see, and how
far you get, next time you try to IM.

I am not familiar with the IM that we may be discussing here.
Is it a downloaded and installed app, or does this IM run inside it's
own window like a mini browser?
Yahoo has a mini IM browser version that runs right off the net. It has
to have a form of java, or flash player, enabled just to work.
Your problem might be that you need to download the newest java or flash
player version, just to use the 'IM browser'.

Thankyou for your replies. Massage I have clicked every where...left..
right..up ...down and no joy.

I do however get a message about the adobe flash player. Mine seems to
cope with everything sent by email. Will I need to down load a newer
version.

Natuserlla may have hit on the problem.

Please keep the help coming and thankyou.

I'm posting this partly for the benefit of anyone who ever faces a
similar problem, but mostly so that the rest of you can help rivame if
this doesn't work.

Through private email I've learned that she is using Internet Explorer
version 6.0. She has made sure that her pop-up blocker is disabled. When
someone IM's her, she hits "accept", receives a notice of a download in
progress, then a new browser window is opened - apparently all happening
like its supposed to.

The problem is, that new browser window is COMPLETELY EMPTY. Blank white
space. It has the same 'title bar' that mine has (something like
"HTTP://www.justsayhi.com userplaneAVwebcam..." etc), but has nothing
else in the window.

This very strongly suggests that Net is correct - this is related to the
flash player.

The last we spoke, she was going to try to download the latest flash
player from adobe.com.

Hopefully she'll post here on how it went, and we can figure this out.

You should get all your updates on a regular basis while the latest
version of acrobat reader is not required in most cases it is free so
why not get it just like the java from sun microsystems. As far as
Firefox goes it is a great browser but you might like it more then
Internet explorer and if that is the case you will have two browsers
installed on your computer. As long as you are not space starved on your
computer update and download all you have mentioned. I would also
suggest going to windowsupdate.microsoft.com as well and getting the
updates for that and also going ot your antivirus softwares website and
updating your virus definitions as well on a regular basis.
