Topic: a ponderance about abortion | |

Why is it, when its a human being its an abortion, but when its a chicken, its an omelet?

Pans aren't large enough for humans.

I am sure we'd call it an omelet if we run out of chicken.

The bible never states that abortion is a crime anyway. Once again the bible thumpers have it all wrong. Abortion is not murder. A fetus is not considered a human life.
If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life. -- Exodus 21:22-23 If two men fight and cause a woman to miscarry, but do not hurt her, then the one who hurt her shall pay her husband an amount determined by the judges. Only if the woman dies is the punishment to be death. Apparently, then, with respect to abortion, God is pro-choice since he considers a woman's life to be more important that that of the fetus. Way to go god. He scored one with me there. ![]() |

Hey, if God is taking the position there that a woman's life is more important, I will support that passage, absolutely.
I was clearly demonstrating the fallacy in fundamentalist logic. |

No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says: He is always convinced that it says what he means. -- George Bernard Shaw

Well getting back on topic here,I found this also.
The Bible places no value on fetuses or infants less than one month old. And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver. -- Leviticus 27:6 Of course boys are worth more shekels but none the less, no amount is quantified for a fetus under one month. |

Religion is just another way for some men to enforce their will over others.
It is very important though, because there is no other way to have an order where there are a lot of idiots. That's the way it is used properly. Nor prosecuted, nor allowed to rule above reason. |
