So I got told by my father today that I need to work on my people skills.
My question is; Why the hell do I eed to be worried about what other people think of me? |

haha seriously who cares right? Be you, people skills are basically skills you acquire for those who arent smart enough to understand you lol :)

The way I look at is like this:
Like me don't like me. I was fine without you before I met ya, I'll be fine after you go away. Why the hell do I need to go out of my to impress you in the mean time? |

why are you asking us if you dont care what others think?

People skills help you in all areas in life. Work, being social.. anything, really. Though, if you really don't care to be able to get along with others well, I guess it doesn't matter.

People skills can be useful for things like when you're at a job interview, etc.
Has nothing really to do with caring, per se, what people think of you -- just that sometimes it's advantageous to be able to make a good impression -- for your own reasons. |

It all depends on what kind of business you have. People skills makes a difference if you actually deal with the public on a daily basis it can make or break a business. Maybe that is what he is talking about. In order to increase your business maybe he thinks you should start with the way you deal with others.

hhhhmmm, I though people skills meant having good "people skills" simply means that you are good at working with people. A lot of jobs require good "people skills". In fact, often employers mention it when advertising for a position.
These skills are helpful for any job that involves working with people. Some examples are a receptionist, a customer service representative. So basically if you dont have a degree and your working at Wal-Mart, being their greeter wouldnt work out too well for ya lol :) |
