Hi I am a lonely Christian single living in England. I wonder what makes us different to other singles?

Our belief in God, and especially in Christ, threatens them. They want to believe that everything they do or think is "right for them". And we are right, it is not.

As Christians, you'd first have to define who "them" are... Do you mean non Christians? If so, the answer's obvious.


As Singles who happen to be Christians, in my opinion there's no overall difference. We are all God's Children, Christian or not.

Welcome Bocelli. I noticed you were from Northampton, England.

I also used to enjoy walking country lanes, and the old British pubs. I have lived in the US now for a number of years.

I am wondering if you are questioning why there is a forum for Christian singles. There are other forums for other faith groups.

What's a "ploughman's lunch"?

For that matter, what's a ploughman?

Plow - in American language.

Ploughman - someone who works a "plow" a tool used in farming.


Ploughman's lunch - can vary slightly by region, but basically - big hunks of crusty bread, cheese which may be one or more varieties: sharp and mild - there must be a different cheese for every region in England (boy we love our cheese), pickles: often pickled onions, and salad.

This is a cold lunch which takes minutes to put together. I also like Branston pickle which is a relish that gives a nice 'bite' to the cheese.

That sounds pretty good, compared to my standard fare of a lunchmeat sandwhich, chips and diet coke.

I could probably plow a field or two on that kind of high carb diet.

I'd love to visit Great Britain someday.

Well... ladies and gents. I live in a very pretty English village surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Quaint thatched cottages and stately manor houses give the village a grand feel. In between there are normal houses too. It is a great place to live

We are the furthest away from the sea you can be in England, but we have several rivers and canals nearby, to walk along side of to admire the view.

What's it like where you live??

The Guildhall is Northampton's most prestigious building, and is a splendid example of Victorian Gothic architecture. Built in 1864 by the famous architect Edward Godwin, it is still possible to visit the Great Hall, Council Chambers, the Mayor's Parlour and the old prison cells.

I live in the Southcoast area of Massachusetts at the moment, not far from Cape Cod.

Westport which is a neighboring town reminds me very much of the rural English countryside, lots of stone walls, tree lined winding roads, and still open land. I like the style of traditional American homes, most are detached homes, with lovely gardens. They seem to really love their gardens around here. Spring and fall are especially beautiful.

Cape Cod canal is probably the closest to taking a walk along a canal in England. It stretches about 7 miles - this canal is considerably wider than most in England. It is used by walkers, bikers and in-line skaters.

Providence in Rhode Island also has a small waterway in the downtown area. In recent years that has been used in the summertime on saturday evenings to host an event known as Waterfire.



The bonfires are lit once dusk settles and on a summer evening with the music in the background, the sounds of people strolling around, really makes for a pleasant atmosphere. Very relaxing.

For me it is intent or what the court may call motive because I believe the devil can quote scripture. I read where one book even said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. One scripture that helps me is there is a way that seems right to man and another is they have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. When I am on the regular forums I can't but notice how the scriptures repeat themselves there. The same arguments and gainsaying that happened in the bible with only new people saying the same thing that was said as in the bible. To me it makes the bible more real to me instead of fictitious. The more opposition the realer it becomes like a thorn in the flesh as Paul would say in his rhetoric.

well this last weekend has been busy, just making all kinds of preparations for an upcoming wedding in february. We did enjoy some lovely sunshine which made a very recent change from the snow we had been having during the first three weekends in January.
