The United States spends more per person on each citizen of Israel than it does per person on the citizens of the United States.
This should tell you something about the level of influence the state of Israel has on this country. It's disgusting. |

This should tell you something about the level of influence the state of Israel has on this country. It's disgusting. yep please do not spread false information in an attempt to denigrate. the us spent about 3.4% as much on a per person basis on an israeli compared to a us citizen. in terms of total spending, the aid to israel was about 0.08% of the 2008 budget. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_budget 2008 US Budget $2.9 trillion / 300 million = $9666/person http://fas.org/sgp/crs/mideast/RL33222.pdf 2008 aid to Israel $2.4 billion / 7.3 million = $329/person so if you are going to give figures with a conclusion that our aid to Israel is "disgusting" in a thread about antisemitism at least please be a little more accurate. |

|
|

the easiest and clearest way to illustrate the
real difference in what is spent per person is by calculating the cost per person. the net foreign aid in the US budget is still a miniscule fraction of the budget and does not substantially alter the figures. for example, if you take the $2.4 billion aid to israel out of the $2900 billion ($2.9 trillion) 2008 budget you still have $2898 billion. adding ALL US foreign aid doesn't make much difference either. recalculate the ratios. |
|
|
|
that is still not an accurate way to do it
you still have salaries of employees and politicians cost of military installations around the world (which is not considered foreign aid i guess you could figure the amount given to those on govt assistance or recieving social security insurance benefits then you may have an accurate ratio but i doubt it every dollar spent by the govt is not an aid to the people much of it is a distress to the people actually |

By all accounts the United States has given more money to Israel than to any other country. The Congressional Research Service’s conservative estimate of total cumulative US aid to Israel (not adjusted for inflation) from 1949 through 2007 is $101.1908 billion.
* The source for US aid to Israel during Fiscal Year 2007 is the Congressional Research Service’s “U.S. Foreign Aid to Israel,” (http://assets.opencrs.com/rpts/RL33222_20080102.pdf) written by Jeremy M. Sharp, Specialist in Middle Eastern Affairs, updated January 2, 2008. According to this report, the US gave Israel at least $2,500.2 million in 2007. This number does not include the $137.894 million we spent on joint U.S.-Israeli missile defense projects or the $1.4 billion in loan guarantees made available to Israel in 2007. |

Let's be clear, I don't care if it was .50 cents. We're a debtor nation, we have no business borrowing from China and Saudi Arabia to give Israel, whether thats cash or weapons.

well with a budget of $3 trillion, and a debt ceiling increase to $11.3 trillion we got bigger problems... |

Guess what, Thomas. I don't know enough about the situation in Israel to comment on it. There are no terrorists here!!!!!!!!! Where the heaven did that come from! If you think that there are no terrorists here, you are hiding your head in the sand. I can show definite proof of advertising for suicide bombers and donations from organizations right in the good ol' USA. I get mailings from 6 - 15 different sources every day. |
