With your smile and dimples Distracting me to what You leave unsaid You invade my space As you lay next to me Sleeping in my bed As I tumble headlong Into what I swore I didn't want A quick fix for A day or two Happiness in a box Made in an instant Devoured so quickly I almost choke On what I tried To hold on to I grasp blindly As it slips through And like a thief In the night you go Stealing special moments Of this tarnished life So again we proceed A couple times a week Is all the happiness We can manage Stringing along One another A part-time love Recorded in days Time continues on As photos mark our Lack of progress Aging us both Love growing old But not growing up No longer new To either of us |
