Here's a quick assessment of all the playoff teams and what I believe are their chances to win.

Giants---Looked the the best team in the league for all but a month of the season. Despite the loss of their best playmaker they still have playmakers on both sides of the ball. Great defense and gamebreakers win playoff games. This Giant team has already proven they can win the big game.

Vikings---Solid team but the QB play is not good enough. Peterson is a gamebreaker and can change the momentum of a game, but the Eagles will not let him run all over the field. Despite being home the Vikings will have a tough time with the Eagles.

Eagles--- Sorry Philly fans but y'all threw snowballs at Santa, so I'll ignore the fact that most of you don't like Mcnabb or Reid. Mcnabb is a borderline HOFer who if he wins the Super Bowl will be a lock for the hall. And all Andy Reid ever does is have his teams prepared and win. Anyway back to the playoffs. The Eagles have great players on both sides (Mcnabb, Westbrook, Samuels) of the ball plus they are hot. I can easily see them winning the NFC.

Falcons---Great story. They got a great opening round match up. I fully expect them to be around next week, but that is where it will end. Atlanta simply does not yet have a championship defense.

Panthers---They're a good and balanced team who is capable of getting to the big dance. Smith is a great player who's already shown what he can do under the bright lights. However, I just don't think their defense is going to come up big in a big spot. They are not a dominant shut down "d"

Cardinals---The best wide receiving trio in the league and a good pass rush, but too many holes on both sides of the ball. Anybody who saw that disgrace of a New England game knows that.

NFC rankings
1. Giants
2. Eagles
3. Panthers
4. Falcons
5. Vikings
6. Cardinals

Steelers---I have not looked at all the final defensive numbers yet, but no matter what they say this is the BEST DEFENSE I've seen this year. They are aggressive, opportunistic, and VERY QUICK to the ball. They've been my pick to go to the Super Bowl all year and I see no reason to change now. Yes, we all know Roethlisberger has a spotty record in big games, but he does usually get it done. They'll make enough plays to be a big factor in the AFC.

Titans---I'm still not convinced that Kerry Collins can win a Super Bowl (see last Super Bowl appearance noway ) Plus, they are just not as talented on either side of the ball as some of the teams they may encounter. Are they as talented as San Diego Or Indy on the offensive side of the ball? I'd say no. Are they as talented as Pittsburgh or Baltimore on the defensive side of the ball?? Probably not. Solid team and I salute them for a great season, but I do not believe it will happen.

Chargers---A punchers chance. If they win this weekend they will be going into next weekend as the hottest team in the AFC and do not forget in spite of the record that they are amongst the most talented teams in the league on both sides. I just figure at some point (forgive me Plaxico laugh )they'll shoot themselves in the foot. They always do. Plus their coach is not a positive...

Dolphins---The fairy tale will likely end this week. The Ravens kicked their butts earlier this year and see no reason why they will not do so again. The Dolphins had a great season, congratulations and all, but I want to read a CREDIBLE argument from anyone that thinks the Dolphins will go to the Super Bowl.

Ravens---I do not see them going to the Super Bowl but they have been surprising me all year. I kept expecting them to lose and go back to what I expected from them at the start of the season, but every week they seemed to turn in a good performance (with the exception of the Giants game) As I said previously I believe the Ravens will beat the Dolphins which means they get the Titans. I've watched both of these teams several times this year and I know the Ravens are capable of beating the Titans. If that should happen then perhaps a third game with Pittsburgh??? A bitter rivalry at worst and after what happened in the two games this year a serious grudge match for the Ravens. I watch Baltimore with interest...

Colts---Pretty much the same deal (hottest team in the conference, lots of great players) as the Chargers except this bunch has already won a Super Bowl and they have God at QB. Would anyone be shocked if the Colts make it to Tampa? I certainly will not be.

AFC Rankings
1. Steelers
2. Colts
3. Titans (only because they are home)
4. Chargers
5. Ravens
6. Dolphins

Wow you should be a sports journalist! Great write for someone who wasn't watching the teams play all year round.

Now the steelers and the Giants would be a great game to watch indeed.
