I recently wrote a story using the concept of absolute zero as a plot
point -- found this during my research:

Absolute zero is the lowest possible temperature where nothing could be
colder and no heat energy remains in a substance. Absolute zero is the

or none, retaining only quantum mechanical, zero-point energy-induced
particle motion.

Absolute zero is also precisely equivalent to –459.67 °F on the
Fahrenheit scale.

I don't think they have actually proven it. I did see an article
stating that researchers had managed to cool a dime-sized mirror to
within one degree of absolute zero.
