Do you think guys with sisters treat women better than guys without sisters? And, what about their relationship with their mother? Does it make a difference in how they treat you as a significant other?

Oh yeah. My brother is the only son that hung out with my little sister and me. He grew up to be a sweet gentlemen. I've also talked to a few other guys with sisters. They are sweet as well. I think it depends on how many girls surrounds the guy in the family.

Does it make a difference in how they treat you as a significant other? Well, my ex was an only boy with 2 sisters. He revered his mother and one sister. The other sister he didnt get along with. He treated strangers better than he treated me. |

My experience has been that a guy who is disrespectful to his mother will be disrespectful to me. I think that depends on the relationship the guy has with his Mom. My Mom and I have a relationship that goes, She says just about anything to me, and I say just about anything to her. It may seem disrespectful to some, but that is just the way my Mom and I are. That, by no stretch, means that I would be disrespectful to my significant other. |

So, it would seem that generally this is true. Only Goof's response leaves me disturbed, but everyone else seems to agree that there is some truth to this.
Of course, it is a generalization, but I have found this to be a good guage. Especially if there was abuse by the mother. It seems that is a red flag to pay attention to. |

It may be generally true but it seems sad that it's a double whammy to be abused by your mother as a child and then grow up to be unfit for a healthy relationship too. |

I don't know if I have ever actually thought about this kind of a relationship. I mean, I love my Mom, and she raised me to be a "man"...course my dad did too, so I got lucky on both accounts. You might be onto something here Ruth. Wonder what Freud whould say? |
