The only way for any of us to know the truth and to be set free is to match it with the Scriptures: His love letter to us, His children. If what you have learned or been taught does not match up to His word then you are following man and not Yahweh.

It's cyrstal clear to me that the Bible itself is the word of egotistical bigoted male-chauvinisitc men and most certainly not the word of any divine being.

To believe in the Bible is to put your faith in the bigoted superstitions of men.

You'll never find God as long as you worship dogma.

there is no god to worship

just cause you go to church or believe a certain way, does not make you a christian.

show me proof, make it a fact that there is a god, dont tell me to believe any of that stuff.make it a fact

It's not for me to show you proof or exibit facts. It's only for me to read the writing on the wall for myself.

see it may not be for you to,but there is not a soul on this earth who can make it a fact

I feel sorry for people who believe that there is a god watching over them, and lots of people do. There are many religions today, and there always have been, but not one of them can produce any proof that their god really exsists.

Why do you feel sorry for them?

I feel sorry for them because they are putting faith in a protector that doesn't exsist. God can't help you anymore than the Easter Bunny. If you stop slammin heroin, or selling your body, it wasn't God, it was you, and your the one that decided to stop the nonsense. You may think you couldn't have done it without religion, but that is simply ridiculas.
Im not saying that religion is bad, im only saying that comon sense will tell you that all religions are false.
Life is full of superstitions, and religions are many of them. Some people are just mentally stronger than others, and run purely on comon sense, and I happen to be one of those people.
Anyone can tell me anything they want, but if it sounds questionable, im gunna require some hard proof before I start believing it, whatever it is. As I said before, I used to believe in god when I was a child, but just like Santa, it passed when I discovered that there was zero proof to back it up.
If you have seen proof, more power to ya, I have not seen any proof at all, and Blind Faith is not something I choose to gamble with, but they were a great band. Dennis

Well, it's good to know that you are so mentally strong. I guess now you just need to learn to be more patient with the rest of us who have so far to go.

I'm not going to argue religion with anyone. All I'm saying is it's logical, even hypothetically speaking, to reason that if you were given that proof, and thus accepted God as fact, you'd then be incapable of free will concerning that acceptance.
A loving God, which is the God I personally believe in, would not want automatons who's sense of eternal existence is only bought by concrete demonstration, but he does seek a relationship with us as his creations who've recognized and become hungry for his spirit.

I've been in this world for 55 years, and I can count my true friends on one hand. I find most people to be a tad bit on the sneeky side. Im very picky about who I hang out with.
I have lots of patience, and I really try to help others, but more often than not, I meet alot of resistance. I've been a mechanic my whole life, and the world is like a big engine to me. To hope your life will run smoothly is no different than to hope your car will run smoothly. Hope is useless, and maintainance is everything. Remember that...
Faith is about the same. You can try to have faith in something, but can you really have faith in something if you can't prove it ? No...
I think that most people believe in God because they think that life without a God would be awful. They have been programmed to believe this.
Actually, faith will bite you in the ass, and to have faith is to let your guard down. Im amused by words like "hope, faith, and soul". I hope I get to church on time, I have faith I will, I can feel it in my soul... oh no ! my car won't start !
If ya don't do the maintainance, your not going to go anywhere important, no matter how much faith and hope you have in your soul.
We need to take care of the things we can see, touch, and feel, and not waste time thinking about things that are not in our world physical world. Also, if a person doesnt lie, cheat, or steal, they are keepers, and to the rest ? Death by BB gun. Dennis

I do not have the burden of proof, you do. It's impossible for me to prove that something that doesn't exsist, doesn't exsist.
Nope, the burden of proof lies in your hands. You are the one claiming that there is a god, im not claiming the exsistance of anything. Dennis

I only have to prove something if I want to convince you to believe. I have not attempted to do that nor would I. I only asked you why you felt sorry for people who do believe. You answered and said it is because they are not mentally strong. It would seem that you are the one trying to prove to the mentally weak that there is no God so that they can become mentally strong like you.

I am a Christian and I dont celebrate the "christmas" holidays with santa and such just with the bible and talking to our heavenly father. Nor do I partake in the whole easterbunny thing either. I dont think any religion should be singled out the way you just did I have respect for all the people and want everyone to find the lord but it is clear in all the religions it is not for us to judge others only he our lord almighty can say what is come of our life and judge us since he knows our thoughts before they enter our mind.
With that said I do know and respect were you are comeing from because in all faiths it does say spread and share the love of god and fellowship often!
God Bless you Sister in Christ and keep touching others and spreading the word!

I'm only stating that I do believe. The burden of proving that fact is between me and the God I believe in. If you don't believe, and you're absolutely positive in that conviction, why bother posting in a religion forum?

Twist it anyway you wish. Were just swappin idea's and thoughts here... I spoke plain english.
I don't remember say those words...
I said that I feel sorry for people who believe in god because their putting faith in something that doesn't exsist. Thats my opinion...
We have both stated our feeling on the matter, now others can come to their own conclusions. I don't think we can take this any further really.
It was fun though, as always...great site... D

And, that is all that is important. What you have between you and God personally and knowing you have a connection with the Divine. If you are at peace with that connection and with God then what more can you ask for?

I enjoying talking about lots of stuff, and religion is kinda one of my hobbies. I like learning about all the different religions, but I was brought up a Catholic. I just find the different religions to be interesting. Dennis

I can certainly agree to disagree, however, it is cowardly to accuse me of twisting what you said and making things up and then just leave.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I didn't twist anything.

I'm not asking for anything. I'm only voicing my own opinions among my fellow minglers.
I, like they, thankfully have the right of free speech to do so and am excersising it accordingly. If someone doesn't like what I say, even though I'm not attacking them in any way, they have the option of responding or ignoring my posts.
