Years ago, I invited a woman to go on a nice dinner date with me. Unknown to me, she had invited several of her friends along, telling them all that dinner was on me.

Needless to say, that pretty much killed the notion of a dinner date.

This goes back to my early twenties. A grade school classmate and family friend's son had returned home from the service. My parents set up the date. I had no choice but to go. I'm thinking, "No big deal, just a movie." There was small talk but no connection and to make it worse, there was a shower sex scene that lasted way too long. As we took the long walk back home, I began to smell something bad. I hadn't noticed it earlier but this guy had the foulest body odor. As we approached my home, he asked me out again. I couldn't do it and then I blurted out as nicely as I could, that it might help if he bathed and used deordant. I was just thinking of the next girl he went out with. He ended up marrying another grade school classmate.
