Topic: vista stinks! | |

How many MB of Ram do you have. I hear it takes alot of RAM to even run Vista. Dennis I've got four gigs on my laptop as well. Try disabling some of the unnecessary features of Vista. I did and it works really well now. I also partitioned my drives and Im running Vista on one, and Last XP on the other. |

a computer is only as powerful as the user at the console. when you tell me that a tool "sucks", what im really hearing is "i dont know how to use it correctly" Dam right. Everyone says Vista has problems, but I don't see those problems. I have 1.5 AMD duo core with 2 gigs of ram and have less problems then most people, even when I had 1 gig of ram. I get no pop ups, viruses, or blue screens from normal programs. Some freeware video games from the bottom of the net causes me to blue screen, but that's simply a graphics card failure. Mac's do the same thing as well as linux. If you can't use a your computer properly go play with crayons. Or mac's their just overpriced crayons. |

They should have just called it windows 2008 and not modified the Shell too much. Srsly vista is fine I have been using it for a while now and I have encountered no problems at all. Adapt or go to linux/mac. I recommend linux though because mac is an absolute piece of **** OS much worse than windows. I know a lot about using mac (I know some scripting, etc) but I still feel like a disabled ****** when i use mac. Sorry if I say anything messed up im drunk right now. You'd have to be drunk to think OSX is crap. OSX has the best learning curve of all the OSes on the market. Plus it has virtually no bugs, and the support is amazing. There's basically an app for any app that Windows has. If you REALLY knew anything about using a Mac, you wouldn't be feeling disabled unless you ARE. And the crazy thing is, DISABLED PEOPLE CAN USE MACS TOO! Thank you, have a nice day. |

ill be typing and lil boxes pop up trying to search for a file or something else... then when i'm typing my curser goes somewhere else in a middle of a sentence i gotta erase it and go back to the end of what i was typing... if only i could put xp back in my computer i would!!! and its a newer vista just got my computer less than 2 weeks ago already dissapointed with it.... Do you have a Laptop or a PC? If it's a Laptop all you have to do is turn of tapping on your touchpad, and perhaps turn the sensitivity a bit down. I'm using a normal mouse on mine, and with the alterations on the touchpad I don't have this problem anymore. how do u turn it off, or down. mine does that to, or itll like automatically scroll the page all the way down when i want to just go down a bit. |

There was XP 64X for puters of 4G RAM and over. Vista has a lot of unnecessary crap and its upgrades are marginal. It tries too hard to resemble OS X! Why not just buy OS X for your computer?
XP pro is the way to go if you don't want to get saddled with bugware. All of the auto updating and auto indexing is unnecessary and wastes computer resources. Welcome to Post Gates Microsoft ladies and gentlemen! |

You know I beta tested vista and I hated it. But recently I gave it another try and I'm really enjoying. And I am a complete Micro$oft hater. I usually run Debian or OS X. But vista has somewhat turned me back to enjoying windows. Did I just say that?

This is basically a groan/gripe thread. It's a matter of preference. Go use your macs, run linux of all kinds of flavor, and use Windows if you want.
People say Vista is all bad, when it really isn't. A recent report (that I cannot find at the moment) said that there were far more windows xp machines infected with spyware/malware than Windows Vista machines, x64 with less than x32. Sure Windows enables all of the 'annoying stuff' when you first install it, but that's to show you the features it has. Just turn it off and stop *****ing about it. How boring would it be if Microsoft kept putting out Windows XP for the next 5 years? You'd get the same interface, the same functionality, same bugs, same security holes, same system. Why not develop a new version, so that when you buy a new computer, you can have something new to look at, something shiny, something that's pushing the limits of what your computer can do to better advance operating systems in general? I'm just tired of people bad-talking a perfectly fine OS. |

I own three computers myself, 2 with XP pro, and a laptop with Vista Premium......I hate the laptop.
I actually run it visually like XP, I can't stand all that frilly stuff that comes with it. Beside, if you run Vista full out, you NEED 256megs of RAM to run just vista. There are times I want to flay the keys off my laptop with a sledge. |

...Vista.
Some dread, some like. Personally, I forced Vista to act like XP. I get no pop ups. I run 64 bit but have all my programs and drivers running perfectly. Now, a lot of people say, HOW THE F*** did you get rid of the pop ups? simple. Control Panel Users On the left is the option to Enable/Disable User Account Control, click it Next Screen, Disable it Restart the Machine TRY and get a pop up now...XD I got plenty of trick up my sleeve, just ask and I shall answer. |

Get In Line. Vista is like Windows for Dummies. You would think that three or four generations of Operating systems they would at least give their users the benefit of a doubt. But No, we all have no experience with Computers and Os's and we all need to be led by the proverbial hand everystep of the way with Vista. Does that about sum it up? |

Hence I disabled UAC...to make Vista shut up. havent had trouble or bull since.
