First of all, nice topic post!
For me, Karma exist. I don't think it's really possible to prove, it's just something you want to believe or not. Maybe one day it could be proven once we evolve to a state that can understand it, but until then, I don't think we can explain it yet It's like asking a cavemen to explain electricity. We just don't get it (yet) on that level. But the reason I believe in it is because it makes me focus on things that are better for my life. If I think about consequences of my actions a little more, I'm usually a better human being which in turn makes me feel better and so my life is "better". So if Karma makes your life better, believe in it, if it doesn't and you feel guilty or fearful, don't believe in it and never think about. |

I'm not trying to over-hype the religious aspect of anything. I just
believe that every man knows the difference between right and wrong. Just not everyone has the courage to follow that instinct. and the belief that all things are possible through Christ. |
|
|
|
like any religous idea it requires faith in order for it to be effective
but that just takes me back to whether the idea of karma(reap what you sow)is an actuality or a focus point for the betterment of society akin to the 10 commandments. |
|
|
|
i personaaly believe in GOD but i can really see how an atheist can
think that the bible was created to maintain order among the masses by instilling a faith in a higher power and giving them commandments from this god that basically place an importance on being a good person. |

So you can espire to this:
Timothy Leary sample: Think for yourself Question authority Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness; chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself. Think for yourself. Question authority. I can understand that as far as religion goes. |

Thank you vanchau.
For stopping in and sharing. we don't see you much in these threads. Don't be a stranger. lol |

i'm with you on that. i know exactly who i am so no one needs to comfort
me. alot of people use religion as a security device. i happen to believe in GOD but if i were to find out today that there was no god, my life and my decisions would not change one bit |

I have found that most people that have problems believing in God( or
karma fo that matter) have control issues. In other words, they feel a need to control everything in ther lives. |
|
|
|
i don't know, i've never noticed that one yet. i believe in GOD but
not karma and i don't have a need to control things. |

Karma is a force, an energy thay flows throughout the cosmos..if you
wrong a person and they get you back twice as bad that's not Karma, that's vengence..if you do a person right and you're repaid in kind, that's not Karma, that's gratitude..BUT when a completely unrelated event takes place that affects you like you affected the others in either of those examples..THAT is Karma.. I will be honest, I never believed in any of this shit, karma, ghosts, Magic, none of it,until I had my 1st completely awake and healthy out of body experience. There ARE forces at work out there that we will NEVER understand, but because we don't understand them doesn't mean they don't exisit..sometimes understanding requires the simple act of keeping your eyes and minds open. |
|
|
|
that's a good point animal but do you believe the existence of one
supernatural force guarentee the existence of another. since you believe in karma, do you also believe that everything happens for a reason? how bout bad luck, is that just karma too you? no offense, they are just questions because i don't get a chance to talk about this much. i have faith in GOD but i asked captain earlier, what would you think about someone who has an abnormally unbalanced life? would you just chalk it up to, they must've done something to deserve it? |

6 pages so far of real conversation about a usually very touchy
subject.. i think that's very very cool... i've been involved with online community for a LONG time and it is refreshing to find people actually talking and not defending or attacking on the boards.. lets see how long it last LOL :) |

Wow, did I open a proverbial cans of worms or what?!
Okay, so I guess I want to believe that "karma" exists..but I can't say I really do. Nor am I believing the "what goes around comes around" idea. Nor do I think this really has anything to do with "God". I try to be a good human being. I try to help where and when I can. I always, let me repeat that, always give someone a buck when they ask for money. I'm not naive though...I do things because I hope that if I'm ever in that person's position and I need help...well, I hope the stranger that crosses my path is like me. The problem is that I end up having the maggots and bottom-feeders of the human race invading my life...and I just sometimes wonder why...is that my "karma"?? |

I tend to think God isn't the perverbile old guy on a thrown floating
on a cloud as some older folks may think but I tend to think God or Gods as a infinate partical that makes up all of us and not something seporate. All intertwind in the vast univers. We are all connected. A good way to metaphoriclly think of it is this link. The Title is: The Colours of Infinity: The Beauty, The Power and the Sense of Fractals. The Colours of Infinitiy I have "accidentally" seen parts of the video during a local PBS fund drive. It intrigued me so much that I started looking on the internet for details. I found the right source, Amazon, and purchased the book and video. It is a total experience and a revelation. I can only paraphrase some mathematician who said that God speaks to the mortals through mathematics. It is truly an epiphany. The Mandelbrot set—someone has called it the thumbprint of God—is one of the most beautiful and remarkable discoveries in the entire history of mathematics. With Arthur C. Clarke as narrator and interviews with a number of notable mathematicians, including Benoît Mandelbrot, this program graphically illustrates how simple formulas can lead to complicated results: it explains the set, what it means, its internal consistency, and the revolutions in thought resulting from its discovery. Asked if the real universe goes on forever, Stephen Hawking defines its limit of smallness; the Mandelbrot set, on the other hand, may go on forever. IMHO,It may be the closest thing we have to a "thumbprint" of God, and some theologians are engaging complexity theory as a means of trying to understand how God and the universe work. Yet, while the Mandelbrot set can be thought of as a "signature" of God, there may be other things even more wondrous yet to be explored, if we keep looking! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_ideas_in_science_fiction http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3664/is_199704/ai_n8762648 Ghostrecon |

vanchau,
first off, thanks for the compliment... second, I'm pretty suprised myself that this hasn't erupted into and all out war... |

i don't think it's karma in your case peachie, i think they see your
generous spirit and they see you as a mark.. i sometimes have the same problem because i am a nice person but then i usually get the cops called on me because they were wrong and couldn't deal with me when i decided to take it out on them. them type of people get off thinking they are playing you for a sucker and they can't see that not all nice people are pushovers. those types of people are usually completely fragile and pitiful people. don't feel sorry for them though. |
