Anyone have any tips on getting started in journalism? I know how to write, I can find subjects to write about...but do not know about the process of submitting work to get published. I usually write in Gonzo form, putting myself into the story and over-dramatizing aspects of the story to make it more appealing...as well as not editing it. Any help much appreciated!

I know magazines usually have an address of where to submit stories you write. Try googling to find magazines that print short stories and then submit to them. It'd be a start. Lex might know.

My only guess would be to send copies of your stories to publishers / editors. It takes a whole lot of rejection to get that one to accept it.

A good resource for that sort of thing is Writer's Market -- a large book which comes out annually, I believe. They list all sorts of magazines (among other options) which accept articles for consideration, and tell you everything you need to know about submission guidelines, payment arrangements, what kind of material they're looking for, etc.
Alternatively, some magazines will provide that information on their own websites. |

We take interns at our place all the time..
if you submit to a newspaper.. they will go over it anyway, check spelling, grammar.. things of that nature.. becareful, some like to change your words.. could change your meaning... Don't turn into one of those that just wants to sell and forgets about substance ![]() |
