Welfare Christmas

Christmas Eve, Mom says moneys tight

No stuffing, turkey or Christmas lights

No presents wrapped in ribbons of silk

No cookies for Santa

No cold glass of milk



The heat is off

The air is cold

My hat, coat, and gloves fed a Christmas moth

The bank foreclosed

We’re on the street

I really wish for something to eat



Oh, Santa Claus hear my wish

Please, bring just one Christmas dish

The food banks bare

And charity, too

Mom says, she wonders what we will do.

Will anyone help us or hear our call?

While the other little girls…..

Get their Christmas Doll.



Please help us and please donate

And maybe, everyone will have a Christmas plate.

I don't know about other states, but NC's food closests are bare, the "soup lines" longer then ever. The radio & tv stations have been promoting special events to help fill the needs of so many people this season.

Delaware getting there too!!

Im not sure about where you stay but, here in Tx. you can run up to a local church and get a christmas basket.....good luck !

The churches here have what we call Adopt-A-Family, the request filled up in November and nothing left there either.....

Giving is the most incredible gift,,,whether it be food, clothes or shelter,, a smile and a well wish for a better tomorrow,,, Tis the Season,,,

I'm not trying to toot my own horn here but I do want to let you this piece has helped me give thought to even our own food bank here. I'm leaving town tomorrow for the rest of the year but before I leave I fully intend to drop by a couple gift cards and let the staff purchase the things they feel are needed.

Thanks much for the reminder and I hope this will help others to donate something to their local food bank.
