Topic: Look in the MIRROR | |
---|---|
When you were a kid in school, I am sure you witnessed, or maybe even a part of, acts of mean, hurtful comments to others in an attempt to make yourself "better" than someone else. There were ugly kids, fat kids, dumb kids, kids with glasses,
or even those who did not have that "million dollar smile". I was always one of those in the last group. So many hurtful comments through school. Thankfully, school ended and so did those childish antics of those "bullies". My hope was that they would grow up, realize what wrongs they have committed to others who were less fortunate than they were. By becoming an adult. It is sad to know that, at 44 years of age, those "kids" never grew up, or at least not all of them did. What kind of life will YOU teach YOUR children? To be mean and hurtful throughout their lives, or be thankful for the blessings that they have recieved. Not just from you as their parent, but also those granted by GOD HIMSELF??? We, as the picked on group, were fortunate to learn forgiveness and be oh so thankful for what we ARE blessed with. At some point in your life, you need to look in the "MIRROR" and realize that what you did and what you do in adult life, actually points out the fact that you are LESS THAN all those you hurt throughout your life. I am not ashamed of anything I have done or said and I will sleep well at night knowing that fact. But, honestly, Will you ever be able to do the same????????? |

Again hide your face in shame and do as woody says and take a good good hard look in the Mirror......shame on you. Woody I love you darling man....always and forever...this chica will have your back. |

I am truly sorry, woody, that someone would feel the need to attack others to make themselves feel better!

there comes a time when growing up is not an option, but a must. I wonder at times what those folks, aka: the bullies, are like as parents or for that fact even, as a mate to another. Do they end up as violent people, insecure, wind up in jail, i don't know. Abusive is as abusive was.

I think this is the hardest part of my job! I actually have to witness these things between children and then discipline them because of their behavior. It makes it all the harder because I know darn right well that this has never really been addressed with most of them by their parents. I work in an inner city school district so the attitudes passed on are more likely to be if they hit, tease, bother or do whatever to you, you do it right back to them.
I'm supposed to be teaching them art but I often find I have to give mini lessons on character, manners and morality. |

Alot of people think that making someone else look bad, makes them look better....
we all know... all they do is make themselves look like an inconciderate azzwhole. |

I was a bully throughout grade and high school. After that I mellowed out quite a bit. I'm sure that Karma is rolling around sooner or later.

i work with special education children and i am a single mom. so i have a lot of children to teach right from wrong. fortunately my son is able to discuss any problems he has with me and we can talk them out. he understands that some kids pick on others b/c they need to make themselves feel better and will point that fact out. he also knows that God loves him as well as his family. he is the child that will become friends with the underdog, the picked on, and the less popular. he is drawn to those in need and although the comments of other children can be hurtful, he knows what a precious child he is.

Well said, Woody.
I was thinking this very thing today; and mean to instill compassion, empathy, fairness, and a clear sense of what is morally and ethically right and wrong in my family. To teach sound values, the meaning of gratitude. For the sake of those in my life who come after me, today I consciously accept beauty into my life and repel ugliness. |

Many of the bullies and mean people from my youth are buried. The deeds of their life remain as their epitaph. I was privileged to have bloodied their noses or otherwise took them down a few notches, when the opportunity arose. Words of wisdom had no meaning to them, back then, and certainly not now. They never repented of their ways, to my knowledge, nor did I weep at their passing. Sometimes, life is just what it is. |

Scoundrel, sadly, you are right. For those without conscience, as many bullies later turn out to be, these learnings and words fall on deaf ears. We are merely preaching to the converted.
If we speak out, it is to have our piece, to vent. Carrying such trauma inside of ourselves only eats away at and rots the goodness and the light that has always been there. |
