i love the day its suposed to meant to be but its so comerical. i have to lay off half my staff becuse of the econmy. and i hate that, right before the holdays. i feel so darn bad. but if i dont i dont think i'll servive cant cut electric down or the gas and no matter weathe there are 10 coustemers or 100 bills are the same.and i have to lay them off by fryday.reasurant bussness relly sucks some times.i wander how safe is your job during these tough months?(sorry about my spellin i know its bad, i'm a chef not a teacher) Christmas is orignally not about how much stuff you spend in the Mall. It's the celebration of love and family. You don't have to spend one penny to show your love for someone. How about this, make something, a picture or as you said you are a chef, cook something very special and tell that you offer what you can offer, you worked on it, you put energy and time into it, people will understand. It is more precious than some sweater or plastic junk they sell in stores. I was 12 years old, when i had no money for nothing, so my teacher advised me to make something . So I made a small wooden box for my mom, it was kinda junky (what do you expect from a 12yr old) but guess, what , my mom still has it and keep it as one of her most precious gift she has ever got. She keeps her jewelry in it.

I hear ya, my son made me a gramp at age 44... I wasnt sure about it....till I held them... Grandpa is Ok by me ......

I am thanking my stars that I bought throughout the year. I have a nasty feeling that it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I chose a long time ago to make most of my gifts. I believe it isn't the cost of the gift but the thought behind it. I also give my grandchildren a 50. Savings bond with their gift. I make them a personalized ornament and then purchase a small gift. The kids get a gift combined.
I personally am offended by all the commercialism that ALL the holidays have become. I have told my kids not to worry about a gift for me just make their families Christmas good. I am sorry for what you are going through in your business. I have seen a couple stores in my little island close and I am sure there are going to be alot more |

We are not doing Christmas this year, because I dont know that I will have a job much longer, and I am paying bills off so that it will not be so hard on us if I do loose my job. My daughter is 18 so she understands.

 I think this Christmas is going to be the least of gifts to children that I have lived through in my 50 years.
I personally love this time of year, because its the ONE time of the year that MOST people TRY and show that they can be a nicer person..Its a time to FEEL more about EVERYONE. Forget the WHY'S that Christmas is a holiday. Just treat it like YOU once FELT IT...The time when YOU were a little child and BELIEVED in Santa, and thinking all night what might be in that wrapped box with your name on it,lol. I think the GIFT of Christmas IS,,,,,,surprise, caring, giving, sharing......A time to SHOW OTHERS,,,,YOU have the ability to think like a child again and to live for the sparkle in the children's eyes and to be with family and friends to see their special spakle in their eyes. This is going to be a very BAD money time for alot of this country,,,but THAT still does not have to be a SAD day in the house as YOU the parent can SHOW it full of love and smiles to let your kids know that LOVE is still in the air and that through time,,your money and jobs will turn around.. But gifts can come and go,,the family love,,is forever..
