DON'T SPOIL IF YOU'VE HEARD IT BEFORE!

There is a man that works in a skyscrapper building. Every morning he goes to work, he gets into the elevator and presses the button to go to the 20th floor. He then gets off at the 20th floor and walks up the stairs to the 28th floor. In the evening, when the man gets off work, he gets in the elevator and presses the 1st floor button, and gets off on the first floor and goes home.

Why?

Because he's done working for the day.

haha.. not why did he go home.. why does he only go up to the 20th floor in the morning.. and walk to the 28th floor; when in the evening, he's able to take the elevator down to the 1st floor (from the 28th floor, I should have stated).

well are you gonna give up the answer?

He's a midget.. he can only reach the 20th floor button.



not to deminish the, 'oh, I didn't even think about that,' moment you are probably having. There are a few things you need to assume and discount for this one, like, 'other people in the elevator?'.. nope, you have to "assume" he was always alone in the elevator, for if I would have stated he was alone, you would have probably considered the possibility of him not having that routine if he were not alone. Which would have lead to a lack of capability, which would have probably lead to answering the riddle quickly.

You have to discount the buzz word, "work", a lot of people answer this one with, he washes windows, but if you think about it.. how is that relevant to the riddle?
