George Bush says the war in Iraq is "On its way to being won in 2011."
Only one more month of this knucklehead. Let's hope he will not do anything else stupid and leave his legacy as is... History will not be kind... |

If you recall at the time it would've seemed very unpatriotic indeed to not have declared war on Iraq coming on the heels of 9/11 as the vote for war did. Never did find those WMDs did they? Or what was the reason(s) Dubya gave for going to war in Iraq? Remind me again what they were. Oh that's right he's never come up with a good answer since no WMD's. Look around you. Look at the country. He is at the very least in the discussion for the worst President ever. |

I agree with you...that being said...Congress should have voted no !...but...they didn't...so...who really is at fault ?...it's not like the President can wake up one day and decide " I think I'll invade another country today "....there are many...many...many...channels and procedures to go through...the founding fathers were way ahead of the curve...in this regard.... |

all Bush was doing was continuing the policies begun by Clinton
If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program.
-Bill Clinton One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line.
-Bill Clinton but now it's popular for the bashers to forget all that and pin it all on Bush. It makes em feel better |

so if Clinton jumped off a bridge I guess georgie better jump too...or better yet where monica at these days...bill did her so georgie bet get a move on... yeah, that's the thing. that's why I mostly stay out of these threads. Because people are so caught up in their own innate bias and prejudice that you just can't discuss anything everything has to revolve around "I hate George Bush" |
actually I don't hate george bush but if just because Clinton started something doesnt mean that bush had to finish it, so the saying applies.
I never stated that I hated Bush so please don't put words in my post. I am glad that Saddam was removed from power but not necessarily for the reasons. |

well, that was quite stretch to get from a continuity of American foreign policy to jumping off a bridge
but that is the kinda stuff that keeps me out
arguing just for the sake of arguing too much of it in here and too much demagoguery |
that was saying that just because Clinton does something that doesnt mean that Bush HAD to continue it.
you know the saying parents use when their kids pull the whole "but Tommy's doing it" |

there is a difference between peer pressure and having a continuity of American foreign policy between successive administrations
it was a consensus among all the intelligence sources, English, French, Israeli that he had WMD. Almost every Senator and Congressman agreed years before Bush even ran for office It wasn't just Bush lying to the people. "[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." Letter to President Clinton, signed by: -- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002
"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..." -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003
