Distant cries solve distant fears, while present lies remain;
Fortune fades on those who wait, while bitterness taints the sane.
Whispers fall beyond the past, while songs are sung today;
Frightened memories peek about, while prejudice swoons and sways.
Promises dealt left and right, while jesters lie in wait;
To trump the king and queen of hearts, while deuces seek their fate.
Beyond the dreams a nighthawk flies, while tempting destiny;
As lost loves waste into the dawn, while forging eternity
