i mean think about it where in the bible dose it say to us that we should paint eggs and put up a tree with lights in honor of Jesus

my point is its totally pegan, i think that we shouldnt have to have a holiday to honor jesus or spend time with our family we should have ruinions and just follow jesus to honor him.

Jesus is the reason for the season..but i'm sure he wouldnt mind if u put up xmas lights, etc..my opinon anyways..makes it fun for the kids too and so pretty to look at..i have a real nice, lighted manger i put out..i put baby jesus in it on xmas day..everyone loves it..

well i get that i think thats pretty cool and all but, i dunno if teaching our children to have a attachment to material things like toys is so good i know it didnt effect me well its taken me until now to learn that i wont die if i dont keep everything i have, knowing i wont die with out my computer or tv or games... |

That's a good point there. The real idea of Jesus was to follow in his example. We are supposed to be god-like and act like gods. Instead what far too many Christians have done is put Jesus up on a pedestal to worship and grovel under. That misses the whole point. They's suppose to walk in his path, not grovel and worship him.

I always thought the real idea of Jesus was about loving each other, making sure we all have our needs met, not being judgmental of others, and instead of punishing, teaching that there is a better way.

Personally, that's exactly what I do. I'm neither a christian nor a pagan and my whole purpose in celebrating the holidays is to have fun and spend time with friends and family.
And the gift-giving is not a materialist thing for us. It's a sharing thing. It's about the giving, not the receiving.

Jesus did not want his birthday celebrated, the church saw to it that it became what we know it as today. And the business people saw to it that it became the buying of merchandise day that it has become. the only thing i believe Christ was concerned with was honoring his ressurection.
now - on the other hand if you do not celebrate my birthday and buy me millions of dollars worth of presents - you will go directly to hell!! -
