i just picked up a fairly inexpensive laptop that has windows
vista,,,how does it differ from xp???? is it a better system???or what
kind of issues can i expect to have?

don't know if its better, but any thing from ms is probably full of
bugs....that's just the way ms does things, they throw it on the market
then give u FREE upgrades...i find i could do every thing on 98 that i
need to do and no one is trying to put viruses on your windows 98..

i hear ya...so far i havent done anything wit it yet besides turn it
on...and get the start up and registration thing goin...i wont even try
to get online with it for a couple of days because i have to have a tech
come over to link it to my network first

omg stay away from vista. it's so much trouble. alot of printers n that
aren't compattible with it. theres no word on it. i hate it to be
honest, gonna get rid of it

yeah i was afraid of that i havent checked to see if my printer or other
software is compatible...im thinkin i might not like it lol

never but ms's newest offering until it has been out aleast a year...

its a little late for that lol...i really needed a new computer...this
one is dying and i just went and got what i could afford at the
moment...if its a big pain ill give it to my daughter and go get
something different i guess

i actually didn't think i was getting vista. it's just so anoying trying
to do something n finding out ya can't, or that it's a big hassle to do
it. also i was sold norton anti virus n yet that isnt commpatable
either!!!!!!

no trouble yet...just barely got it turned on...

and norton came with it so they musta got that bug worked out

Ya its just a new and flashy thing.. improved security they say but its
windows....
basically its xp with a flashy new user interface

well i guess ill give it a try since i have it and see how it goes...im
just downloading a bunch of software now...so far no issues i guess

I hear good and bad things.

I would be more impressed if we were given a choice when buying any new
pc. Vista hasn't been thoroughly tested. I remember learning pc on XP
when it first came out.

A better deal would be to offer two system preferences?

I am liking the look of vista so far. But, not sure about resource use.

I'm a skin freak onmy own... wallpapers, winamp, and styles...

We'll see. I got the free download when it first was offered to us. Was
thinking about installing it on my pc after I get all I watn off it.
And, waiting on my laptop for now.

I think that will be the biggest issues. Compatibility.

And,I remember my old HP printer. Damned thing seemed to never work
right, and always needed drivers reinstalled.

so...does anybody know of a vista compatible printer/scanner?

Have you tried the knowledge base at the Vista site?

they may have some driver downloads, or info on what you can do?

no i havent tried anything At THIS POINT...I CANT GET ONLINE WITH IT YET
