If you like Akira you should check out the Tenchi series (OVA released in 92) oldie, but goodie. Can't say much about the movies that came out with it, seems like anything series-turned-movie just sucks. haha

sadly the younger generation has never even heard of akira. there mostly into naruto, bleach, or what ever they can find in the mall or on cartoon network. i say just let akira be. its a gem to us, so lets not turn it to crap with really bad remakes and lil kids cosplaying as it on there bikes and getting hurt. surprised i never did that back in the day lol. is it bad that ive seen akira more then 30 times? -_-

If you like Akira you should check out the Tenchi series (OVA released in 92) oldie, but goodie. Can't say much about the movies that came out with it, seems like anything series-turned-movie just sucks. haha well a lot of one-time anime movies try ( and fail) to retell the entire series ( usually 2 6 episode or less) in one shot. but stand alone movies are pretty spectacular. although ghost in the shell came out before the series, the second and third movies came out afterwards.. i can only speak for the second movie but i thought it was superb |

Akira was great. Pales compared to the manga but in terms of animation quality for the time, you're right it rocked! 3 X 3 EYES was another well animated series along with Wicked City. Tenchi Muyo was fun but animation quality doesn't even compare with the detail in Akira
