any amount of brown is no bueno.
I learned a little storage secret about lettuce... chop it up like you like it and keep it submerged in water like in a bowl with a plate over it, to hold it under the water it keeps the lettuce from oxidizing and it will stay fresh and crisp for weeks. |

when its a little brown try some if you dont get sick then let it get a little more brown try it if you dont get sick keep trying till you get sick and then report back to us how brown is to brown

Burnt sienna - raw umber brown. Anything lighter is still edible provided you mix it with asparagus and rice pudding.
