So what's up with these men that contact you with just a "hello" and then tell ya "let's talk" then they want you to email them and tell them about what you're looking for, likes, dislikes etc etc. Personally when I get an email like that I thank them for contacting me but then put them down as to lazy to communicate. By "let's talk" do they mean they want your phone number (no way!). To me that's just lazy to have the woman have to break the ice.Or do they feel that they have so lonely woman out there chasing them that they don't have the time to write a real letter.

Of course I make first contact and sometimes the women will contact me.

Pretty simple to me. I check the profile then reply yes/no
If yes, then I pick something out of the profile and go from there. Sometimes is goes great and then fizzles. Other times you meet a friend. Other times it become a date, etc.

If you want my resume, ask me for my cell phone number and a good time to call.

I dont think it lazyness. I think in this day and age true letter writting has fallen by the way side. Then again some guys are just shy. Even with the internet where they can be annonomous, its still hard for some to come out of their safty zone. And a quick HI, is the bravest thing some of the guys have done in a long time. JMO

Then lets revive letter writing!! Surely after you have read someone's profile and looked at their pictures you can find something to say.

If not, at least talk about the kind of day you're having, and how is theirs, the weather, what you are looking forward to.

Thank you polypeasant, I think you understand what I'm trying to get across here. And for those that just don't get it, well then don't complain when nobody writes you back after your "lengthy" letter.

I try to keep first contact letters, to short notes. I don't want to impose on anyone, mention what got my attention & then ask if the lady would like to chat/exchange mail. If there is no reply, I assume, there was no interest for further contact. We all approach things inour own way.

Too true that real letters are going the way of the slide rule , eight track player ,and even vcrs .

I miss cards through the mail . I suppose the postal depts love email. Less work and all.
I even receive my bills through e mail . Yikes .....

I guess I'm still of the old fashion idea that the man is suppose to make the first move. I have on a few occasions sent an email first, but usually it had nothing to do with trying to "match" with them but about something they might have posted in a thread or something in their profile that I had a question about and instead of asking in the thread, I would do it thru email. I sent an email to a 28 yr old today because of something he said, but I sure wasn't trying to "match" with him.

I'm from the old school also and find it hard to contact them first.

I find it easy to talk to them if they have addressed you on the community page.

I would rather they contact me first but I will step out on a limb if I see someone who interest me.

I'm alittle shy so it's hard for me to be first contact although I have tried. What really pisses me off is when they ask if I have a web-cam. There are some I've accepted IM's from on here and they want to play "50 sex questions". Have nothing against sex but I've talked to you for only 1 second.
