Let's see here...10 packs to a carton...and you need 3 cartons a month to "survive" on a limited income? That equates to at least a pack a day, right?
Yup, I'm a non-smoker...and not a vigilante for non-smoking, but holy SMOKES, that sounds excessive to me, especially on a fixed income. I say quit smoking, and it would likely cure a lot of your problems, including the grubby neighbor who wants to bum off of you.
that is a pack a day in april june sept nov more than a pack a day in feb less than a pack a day in jan marchmay july august oct and november |

Again, I'm NOT judging here, but your smoking seems incessive, especially if you say you are on a fixed income.
Would you be posting the same question if your neighbor were asking for a cup of sugar every week? I just think your financial priorities are a tad warped...given your current situation. Just a thought...
Edit: Not to mention, after reading your profile, I think you may want to change your answer to smoking from "occassionally" to "frequently or freight train" or whatever option they offer for constant smokers like yourself. Just sayin'...

I'm just wondering what you all think of this. I am on a fixed income, I do smoke, but I can only get enough of them for me to get through a month. That is usually 3 cartons for me. My question is, my neighbor who I don't know that well begs me for a pack when she has none, I gave her one once, now she makes it a habit, is it wrong for me to say I don't have any??
nope not at all you can be nice as you were, but when they come to expect it,is when you need to say no more |

People are off topic and talking about RedSoxFan instead of helping her with her question.
