Yes, it is scary. And, there are many who really do think like that. I have lost a couple friends due to my beliefs. And, about 5 years ago the Baptists shut down the occult shop here where I live. They harassed the owner and patrons until it went under. Very sad.

Thats awful. Not to mention that generally those occult or "new age" supply stores carry a wide range of books and items. Its not limited to Pagan or Wiccan orientation solely. There are books about yoga, meditation, Buddhism. Philosophy and any number of topics. Its just very silly. The other thing is you wont generally find Pagans harassing the shop owners of Christian designated bible supply stores. It would be nice if the same courtesy and tolerance could be in fact, mutual.

I saw this and I had to share: http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news1007/zerowiccans.html I think someone is still living in the middle ages. I am pretty sure that is a spoof website. I have seen them before through work and that's got all the indicators of being fake. However, Baptists do tend to be the denomination, more often than not, to lead similar crusades against anything non-Christian. I would say that yes that is definitely a spoof website and a caricature of extreme fundamentalist baptist churches. It takes some of the ridiculous practices and beliefs of these churches and exaggerates them to extreme in order to illustrate how ridiculous they are. And yet there is a bit of truth in their depiction of what some baptists churches do practice, for example praying for the destruction or death of someone. I knew a church that actually did that to a tavern owner in their area because they did not approve of alcohol and parties. Some of the people in the church quit the church when they did not agree with that kind of praying. JB |

Happy Harvest Moon everyone! Enjoy the view tonight and soak it in! Too bad the time difference is so great for most of us.....we could all agree to go out and look at it at the same time...a very connecting experience. Well, in my opinion.

I actually saw the moon last evening. I have animals here on a farm so I need to go out and feed them and close gates and all that. It was BEAUTIFUL. Huge and low hanging. Check it out the next few nights if you can.

This is a fairly good Yahoo group (if you like Yahoo groups) that focuses on Traditional Witchcraft without the Wicca.

Moon Phases and magick. This link provides a brief spell/ritual that anyone can do to remove negativity from their lives under the section "Waning Moon".
If you are feeling like nothing is going right or you have an ongoing issue in your life you would like to get rid of.....this is a good little ritual. http://www.joellessacredgrove.com/Holidays/moonphases.html |

nteresting, i'm glad to see so many reply's to this topic. Atleast your society has come far enough where it can be safely discussed in the open. I just got done reading this match me test thingy where the very first question is would you consider dating someone that believed in a nature based religion. It's funny how well that filters out people. I wont say if i am or not, but thats because i've witnessed pretty bad persecution when i was 6.
either way, Marry Meet! hehe |
