I have no idea how long this guy's been around, but I just saw the video for "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" this morning on CMT, and I love it. It's one of those songs you can connect to immediately.

Darius Ruck is the former lead singer for Hootie and the Blowfish. I love his new song and the video. Really? Wow, I haven't heard anything about Hootie and the Blowfish in years! Well, I'm glad darius stayed in the spotlight. He's one of my new favorite country singers. |

I was always a fan of H&TB. They were one of the few "new" bands to come out within the past 15 years that actually had something to offer. It's no surprise that Darius Rucker has continued attempting to be successful, regardless of the genre of music he's pursuing. Good luck to him!

Well, I think he's doing a great job. He's got that old-school country going on. Real "twangy", like the stuff I listened to on the farm as a little kid.

I think he prefers it when people call him "Hootie."

I think he prefers it when people call him "Hootie." I think I'll just call him whatever his album cover says, lol. |

Didn't that guy die of rickets years ago?
Or was that just his career? |

I've always liked his band "Hootie and the Blowfish", but i never heard any from his solo career. Maybe now I'll finally get to hear something. I always thought he was a good lyric writer

It is a great song. They announced that he is the first black man to have a #1 hit in country music in over 20 years a little while back but said he was playing it down. This was the song he won that title with.

Way to go Hootie!

Darius Rucker is not "Hootie".
The band's name comes from two of Darius Rucker's college choir friends, neither of whom was ever a band member. One, with a round face and glasses, was nicknamed Hootie because of his perceived owl-like appearance. The Blowfish, also got his nickname from his facial appearance, in his case chubby cheeks. Rucker is often mistakenly referred to as Hootie. |
