I'm saying there are better things to do than whine about woulda coulda shoulda and maybes and what ifs.

Go out there and do something that you feel makes the world a better place. I hardly think sitting here and bashing either side for whatever reason is conducive to positivity. In fact, I think it breeds negativity. What does negativity breed? More negativity.

That is just what i was thinking when i read the article.

Ditto. I am so sick of the negativity, name-calling, fingerpointing, etc. We are ALL responsible for this mess and it will take ALL of us actually doing something for someone other than ourselves to fix it.

And you didn't see what was deleted.

It sounds more like the clinton administration without the clintons. As we are saying...politics as usual...no change there...only in our pockets.

Empty suit... that will be the OBAMA administration.

what is your contribution for change be?
what will you accept responsibility for?
how far will you go to help out your fellow citizens?

My contribution will be to keep our nation free from govt. tyranny & socialistic communism.

Also for life liberty & the pursuit of happiness.

How will you go about this unselfish act? How will you keep our nation free from governmental tyranny and socialistic communisms, examples please. Something you would personally do and be responsible for.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is not something 'you supply' but something you repeated from the Declaration of Independence. waving

Well, I didn't mean just this thread or even here on Mingle, I meant in general (but I am glad I missed it bigsmile ). I mean society in general wants to blame the president, congress, the supreme court, the neighbor's cousin's boyfriend's best friend's dog for our problems. Thing is, we are responsible, we voted these people in, we refuse to vote them out, we allow them to get away with stuff we know isn't right or good for anyone but them.

And the thing is, the past doesn't matter anymore. It's over, it's done with, it's gone, it can't be changed. It's pointless to question how, or why, or who. What does matter is, where do we go from here? How can I do my part to create a different present, and therefore a different and hopefully better future? What is my personal responsiblity going forward?

So if you are against big government why not go about your life and live absent big government? What purpose does complaining about it serve?

Worry about YOU.

This past election has gotten me more interested in politics.
I did some volunteering and I plan on doing more in the future.

Still not providing nor proof nor examples, but trying to make points using other people's words.

As you can't or won't share how 'you' would provide any of the above guess I'll do as always -skip your posts of cut and paste.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness will only be absent when 'you/me/everyone' ceases caring and working towards it, not when govt is absent.

Accepting responsibility is and should always be done before the finger pointing begins.

Me too. I also plan on doing more volunteer work with causes I find important.

Thing is, it doesn't matter what you believe or where you stand on any issue. Get out in your community and do some work for whatever it is you believe in. Homelessness, stricter/looser gun control laws or drug laws, foster care for children, cancer society, reading programs for kids, whatever. If you believe it, DO IT! flowerforyou

I like to keep things local. What I do for people no one has to know...not the media not govt. Freedom is for people who have the courage to go out & make a life for themselves.

Help comes from people we live around...not federalizing everything to fit some small minded mold of what civilized society should be.

Other than working class issues...I think all other funding & charitable giving should be & stay local. Like free enterprize...let people decide for themselves who they want to help & who they want to support.

To answer your question Fran...

I think what she meant was you don't believe in big government, so live your life without it. It is possible, many many people choose to live their lives with as little involvement with their government as possible. That's how they choose to pursue their liberty and happiness.

Anytime though I'm quite sure my explanation is so hopelessly ignorant and obscure as well, that I'll be next on the name-calling list
