First, there is what you grew up with. Then there are each person's very unique experiences between God and themselves that can't be described or defended to another person. I think if your religion gives you a sense of being connected to God than that is the right religion for you. After all, that is the purpose of religion. To connect us personally to God. Yes, I agree. And what other people believe about you or your beliefs is not important and you should not be bothered by them or by what they think, unless they are getting in your face or trying to do harm to you in some way. Every person in unique and every belief is unique. Live and let live.

I'm A Christian, but it's not because it ever worked by having it pushed on me. It's because to me, Christ's teachings made perfect sense and touched my heart, which opened me up to the Holy Spirit who even further touched and convicted me to seek a personal relationship with God, to be closer to him, to obey his word in order to live in the Kingdom of God. I'm not saying that I'm a rightious person for it, far far from it. I deal constantly with my own nature to sin so I need that constant conviction to right myself when I fall. Before becoming a Christian (Accepting Christ as the resurrected son of God and my personal savior through his sacrifice), I had interest in and even studied everything from Zen Buddhism to Wiccan beliefs and ceremonies. I did find pearls of wisdom in most of those beliefs but none of them came anywhere close to the overwhelming power and love of the Holy Spirit. I hope no one's offended by my testimony as I do repect other's personal beliefs. I don't single them out to tell them what I find ridiculous or ludicrious about their philosophies. I also can't or won't defend other Christians who feel called to preach to non-believers. I'm not sure that anyone's influenced like that really, but I'd hope that by direct observation of my own, and other spirit filled Christian's interactions and lifestyle, anyone interested enough in me or them personally, just might consider why I feel so blessed. You'd be wasting your time and energy trying to tear me down or disprove my deeply held convictions. |
