Take me OFF that list if i am on it Same here. I do not accept any sacrificial lambs murdered for my sake. I'll choose death before I'll condone nailing anyone to a pole for my sake. I won't condone that in any way shape or form. I free Jesus from the burden of my responsibilities. It's the least I can do. There's no blood on my hands. I choose death. Thank you very much. |

Put me on your list WB1...the deed has already been done!!!

Put me on your list WB1...the deed has already been done!!! That doesn't change what it is. You're still accepting that someone was nailed to a pole to pay for your responsibilies. If you accept it, then he died for you. If you reject it, then he didn't die for you because you're willing to accept responsiblity for yourself. Timelines don't change the morality of it. To accept the butchering for your sake is to accept it, period. No matter when you accept it. That doesn't change the fact that you're still accepting it. |

Is there a way to bring him back to life and reverse what has happened??? If there is...Maybe then all of us that believes he shed his blood for our sins can say OOPS! sorry about that. I do take responsibility each and everyday for my sins and by the way I was born a sinner..this is my belief and only mine. Peace to all |

If you were born a sinner then I guess it wasn't your fault. Christ was just paying for his own mistake of creating faulty humans in the first place. I see. And this is entirely a faith-based belief? Seems like a strange notion to want to place faith in. But, hey, if you like the notion then go for it! It doesn't sound like something I'd want to be true. So I see no reason to believe it on pure faith. Sounds like a pretty dismal negative picture of a man/god relationship to me. Why are people so anxious to believe in this negative picture on pure faith? Can anyone answer that question? Just curious. |

You see Abra it's all about Faith...Moses has been the only man to have spoke to God. I have never spoke with God one on one, face to face. No human has ever been to heaven or hell and come back to tell about it. So, we as human have to have faith in Gods word. It's about believing in something that's not of this physical world. I respect each and everyones beliefs. I feel so absolutly guilty knowing that Jesus died the way he did...the suffering and the pain. His greatest suffering was that man kind did not have faith in Gods word. It was a very negative time just like it is now...even worse. So much negativity. It's after we leave this physical world do we find peace and no more negativity.
Peace to all.... |

You see that's the sad part about it. You're carrying around an unnecessary burden of guilt. I know all about faith. The question isn't about having faith. It's a question about why people would want to put their faith in such a negative picture of God? When people put their faith in the Bible they aren't putting their faith in God. They are putting their faith in an ancient mythology that came from the Mediterranean region, and clearly has many parallels with thing like Greek Mythology as well as all the other myths from that part of the world, including the idea that the gods required blood sacrifices to be appeased. To believe in the biblical story would not be putting my faith in God, but rather it would be putting my faith in the people who wrote these stories that are almost identical to all the other mythologies of the region. The story says that mankind fell from grace from God. Why would I want to believe such a negative thing on pure faith? The stories also go on to say that this God requires blood sacrifices before he can forgive disobedience. Why would I want to believe this on pure faith? Why would the creator of this universe just happen to want the same things that all the other manmade God's wanted? I can't believe that God would want blood sacrifices to be appeased before he could forgive men of their disobedience to him. That's all sin really is. This book also claims that God asked people to stone sinners to death. This means that God was also asking them to judge others. How else could they decide who's a sinner? So this God supposedly asked humans to judge each other and stone each other to death. This same God also commanded people to murder all heathen. He said it is their duty, not to just murder heathens, but to murder the wives and children of heathens as well, with no mercy. I'm supposed to believe on pure faith the the real creator of this universe would have asked people to do these things? Now consider this,... just for a moment,... suppose we imagine that controlling mortal men wrote these stories to try to control the masses. Now all of a sudden it makes sense. The authors of the stories knew they wouldn't be around to pass judgment on people and stone them to death, so they asked their readers to do these things for them claiming this was God's idea. Now that makes perfect sense to me. I don't know about you, maybe you think God would be like that? Also, the very crucifixion makes no sense to me personally. He we have a God who can't forgive people unless he is appeased by a blood sacrifice, and what does he do? He sends his only begotten son (who was basically supposed to be this same God), to be murdered by men as a sacrifice to himself so that he can forgive men of their sins. Well, again, I don't know about you, but it seems to me that an all-wise, all-powerful God could have come up with a better plan than that. It also makes no sense to me that a God would appease himself through his own sacrifice. It also doesn't make any sense to me to see a God basically telling his children, "Here is my son, if you nail him to a pole I'll forgive you of your sins". Again, this makes no sense to me at all. Yet I'm supposed to believe in on pure faith? Yes, I know about faith. Faith is to believe in something that you can't prove is true. I do have faith that we are utimately spiritual creatures and that we are eternal. I'm not an atheist. Yet at the same time, I see no reason to place my faith in a Mediterranean myth that claims so many negative and unwise things about the creator of this universe. That's not placing faith in God. That's placing faith in a manmade myth. I place my faith in God directly. And I have no guilt associated with it. Why should I feel guilt associated with my creator? That's a very negative thing. I've done nothing to feel guilty about. So my question is simple,... Why are people so anxious to put their faith in such a negative picture of God? If you're going to have faith, why not place your faith in a positive picture of God? It's not like there aren't any positive pictures of God available. This is truly what I don't get with these people who preach this negative religion. I mean let's face it, a religion that has all men fallen from grace from God to the point where God had to restort to the totally desperate measure of having his son butchered on a pole to pay for man's evil nature is not a positive picture of a relationship with our creator. Why not choose a better picture of God to place your faith in? No one is suggesting to become an atheist. By why believe in the Mediterranean myth? It's so totally negative and based almost entirely on God's need for blood sacrifices. That's not even a pretty picture of a God, let along a pretty picture of humanity. |

Abracadabra..I respect what you are saying by all means. Can we be friends?? Sure. I hope you never took my concerns personally. Or as any kind of judgment call. I was merely pointing out things that seem from my point of view to be obvious at least to me. And then asking why people choose to believe these thing on pure faith. I never meant to sound like I was being adversarial. I'm just curious. |

in defense of faith, there seems to be great negativity on Jesus' death, and no one seems to accept that he rose again? only his physical body died, most here believe that who they really are is not the physical but the spiritual, i can see where those who believe in the ressurection would be led to joy not sorrow. they "live" because "he lives" - not because he died on a poll.
i know of no C's who's minds dwell on his death, but all on his ressurection. you can't get a clear picture of what is said to have transpired by only accepting or throwing away one aspect of what took place. if he had died and that was it - he would be considered no more than another man led by the book god. but that's not the case. the picture painted in the book is one who overcame death and lives eternally. there is no salvation in believing in a dead man, only in a live savior. I [when in the cult] - believed this to be true, god sacrificed himself in Jesus to purchase those who would believe and follow. by grace we are saved, it is not something that can be earned - it is a free gift, purchased by his blood. I don't find this horrid, i see it as a predetermined act to have been accomplished for god's purposes. Though i may not agree with Christianity as to the book in many areas, i do not find this a reason to not have faith in it if you do so believe. JMO |

Actually, one of the said reason for Moses to have brought down the 10 commandments was because of a worshiping of false idols. I agree with what you are saying here. I do believe, though, that we can learn from mistakes. The bible has been distorted from it's original version to cater to what the reader's needs are. There's the student bible, the man's bible, NIV, KJV, the woman on the rag's bible (exaggerating there). Anyway, spirituality and faith in what YOU believe to be right should the only way to have any sort of faith at all. The bible should be some sort of reference, if anything. Many times I hear so many people speaking of rediculous ideas such as, "give it all to God, he'll take care of it". HOW! If you believe there is a God, which I do, he gave all of us a brain. If we were to give all of our problems to God, why the hell are we here in the first place. There would be no reason at all as far as Christianity is concerned. That's an entirely different topic for discussion anyway, and oh, dont get me started on prayer and how people blow that out of proportion as well. |
