I have had a sony vaio for about a year now and it all of the sudden
won't power up anymore. I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with laptops or knew what it could possibly be. Help!!!!! |

Is there any kind of noise or vibration or lights at all? Or none
whatsoever? If you are lucky is just your power supply (the one on the cord), which can be replaced a lot cheaper than most other parts. |

Nothing whatso ever. The power cord still lights up green, and the
battery had never went dead... I have a bad feeling that it is the mother board, I sure hope not. I guess only way I will know is if I bring it to a computer shop. |

Has your electricity Been shorted at any time? Could lead to this type
of problem |

Surge protector?

Turn the laptop off and remove the battery,
then turn it back on. If it still doesn't power up, turn if off, remove the battery and make sure the power adapter is connected to a surge protector. Power it back on. Let me know if this works. |

I had a laptop that didn't work (at all) with the battery in, but
powered up after removing the battery, so mnhikers advice just might work. I've also had laptops with these symptons due to problems with the external power connectors and some whose internal cables were just a little loose. (So they just worked sometimes and not others, without apparent cause till being opened) |

I've tried the whole unplug and plug, take the battery out and put it
back it. Guess I'll just have to break down and bring it to be looked at. And yes I had it plugged into a surge protector. Thank you all for your input ![]() |
