We live and laugh
And love my dear
Then comes that fatal day,
When all the world so colorful
Just tends to fade away.

The memories of a better time
Just turn to black and white.

As memories fade to gray.

There was a time when I believed

When everything I prided in

This, oh faded one, has dual meaning. Think about the war between the states (I know you know, but other's won't catch where I'm going so here's the "spoon" so they may partake of the soup to nuts so to speak, "United States Civil War"). Nicely done!
