There you stood, naked
Almost God-like,sacred
Stripped of your covers
wind through you shudders
No alms offered, none taken
Life, for now, forsaken
yet, each passing day
heralds new rays
of the life to come
Dressing you in tiny
fragments of new life
Young tender shoots awaken
Rest,richly deserved ,taken
Spring whispered in your ear
your cloak of leaves
proudly adorns your frame
Drawing in birds from far and near
You spurt new growth
your branches reach forth
towards the sun above
Mother nature showed you love
she looked upon you as a mother
would a child
and blessed you with a winter mild
