In my last post someone inferred that Mc Cain would be a better president cause he is more like a regular joe. My question is, when did we as americans decide that we would settle for regular, ordinary, average or common people to lead us? Do we really want that in a time of crisis? Is regular joe code for something else? Where our founding fathers regular joes? Well, technically McCain does not fall into the catagory of an "average Joe". He is an elite. Obama is closer to an "average Joe" than McCain. And I agree that our leaders should be a bit more educated and diplomatic than most "average Joes" but we do not want to get too far from the base of the average citizens here in this country either. McCain has lots of experience but it doesn't necessarily make him a better candidate. He may be stuck in the rut of "this is how it is, how it is done" which would make him the status quo. Plus he has followed Bush alot of the time. We are ready for something new here. Something inspirational. This country has been taken through the wringer with the last administration. It has to have a lift of some kind. |

I will be watching and laughing/crying as Obama the wunderkind leads his new overwhelming majority in Congress down the path of change. Do you all really think it's all going to get better now? Capitalism was mortally wounded this year. All hail the new Socialist order that will stop global warming and finally stick it to big business until there are no jobs that aren't union or government controlled. You'll have independence from big oil and OPEC while you're riding your bicycles to work, uh, I mean to the welfare office. The biggest mistake the people's revolutions make is that after you tax all the rich people and take their riches you eventually run out of rich people to kill, uh, I mean tax. I've watched for years as the left in this country uses terms like assassinate when describing how much they hate the opposition. I've watched the intolerance of dissenting opinion while broadcast news repeats the daily talking points of biased rhetoric ad nauseum. Most if not all of you have no idea why the Bill of Rights exists to try to save you from yourselves. Most do not understand the importance of the Second Amendment and how there can be no guarantee of the First Amendment without the Second. It wasn't number ten so it must have been pretty important to be the second. You speak of the Founding Fathers but haven't done the research to understand what tyranny really is and why they feared it so much. I have a really bad feeling you will understand tyranny in your lifetime. All hail the empty suit but fear the people behind him. You've been sold, boxed, and about to be delivered. You are sooooo right. The only difference I see between REPS & DEMS is the people seem to hold REPS accountable & give DEMS a free pass. In a way I hope DEMS take over... I keep asking people what they are going to do when they realize the lunatics are in charge???? I'm guessing that it won't take long to kick this bunch to the curb ....and sooner rather than later. |

I'm not even going to try and look like I'm as versed in politics as most of the other posters are, but, I've asked this before and STILL can't get a straight answer.
Without a congress who backs him, what REAL power does a president have except in times of crisis???? Someone told me he had the "mighty veto pen", that might be the case, but he can't use it just because he had a "bad hair day". IMO, some things about this election is not making sense about either side. Why would McCain pick a running mate that no one had hardly heard of, who w/o a speech written for her, speaks like a bo(a)bble head and why would Obama (also catapulted from virtually unknown to candidate)pick a running mate who has been known to flip sides? Would either VP candidate make for a good president? If something isn't done about congress...stop letting them be career politicans and be accountable for THEIR votes on issues, a president, no matter who or what side is going to make a difference on his own. Who really decides what happens in this country as far as decisions and issues go...it's NOT the president standing alone! |

When is it that we are going to stop with the high school litmus test as far as President goes and start voting for those who are actually going to be the best at the job? People will keep throwing their votes away on those who have no interest in helping us. The worst part is they will be cheering these people on (as long as it's a democrat that's doing it). |

if voting actually made a difference, it would be illegal...it doesnt matter who you vote for, as long as the government remains all about the market and the citizen is stuck being a consumer, Big business wins...

Well, not all big business. They are society's "high rollers". They include many politicians and people in high positions. First they make countries struggle, then melt them together and make them dependent. Years and years down the road, they control the labor force while living the "high life"... |

I wouldn't count my chickens just yet... if DEMS win they will have to actually come up with ideas that REALLY WORK! I seriously doubt this bunch will be able to find their way out of a paper bag. Again... if they don't produce & people find this bunch doesn't cut the mustard they will be out on their butts quicker than you can snap your fingers. I really do hope I'm wrong but every time I vote for a DEM they dash my hopes with their left wing lunacy. (sigh) I am still waiting for sanity to return to the DEMOCRAT party. We'll see.... |

I am still waiting for sanity to return to the DEMOCRAT party. We'll see.... I believe Obama will lead us toward some sanity, and maybe even some bi-partisanship. Maybe you meant Hannity... |

The money may all be on his wife's side, but he is so out of touch with where the average American is really at that it is laughable to call him a regular Joe. |

Money, fame, Ivey league schools and their pedigrees. Hell most of congress is made up of former lawyers. What’s so special about having a law degree? In fact most people hate lawyers …until they need one. You know Hitler wanted all of his people to have a pedigree too. Love that term comparing humans to dogs. It’s so elitist. . Some of the most brilliant people in the history of the world hated formal education. Most brilliant people like to think for themselves. They don’t like to be indoctrinated into a “Way” of thinking by “Higher Education.” Some of the most brilliant people in the history of the world grew up with modest means. Now Sarah Palin is not a Nobel Prize winner and John McCain did not split the atom..... But extraordinary things come from ordinary people every day. Police , Firemen , Nurses and so on and so on. God Bless America!!!! God Sarah Palin is so great to have around. You BET'CHA!!!!! |

(Some of them are extraordinary because of their accomplishments.) Money, fame, Ivey league schools and their pedigrees. Hell most of congress is made up of former lawyers. What’s so special about having a law degree? In fact most people hate lawyers …until they need one. (It comes in handy knowing the law and how it works if one is going to be making laws.) You know Hitler wanted all of his people to have a pedigree too. Love that term comparing humans to dogs. It’s so elitist. . (So,your saying that since Hitler wanted his people to get educated, then people shouldn't get educations? People were getting educations before Hitler. And its called getting a degree, not a pedigree.) Some of the most brilliant people in the history of the world were never formally educated. Most brilliant people like to think for themselves. They don’t like to be indoctrinated into a “Way” of thinking by “Higher Education.” (Actually, most of the brilliant people in the history of the world were highly educated. If a person really is brilliant then getting an education isnt a problem. If a person is brilliant then they would be smart enough to realize the benefits of getting an education. And education by its very definition, is the opposite of indoctrination. And the definition of elite is to be the best at something.Thats a good thing.) Some of the most brilliant people in the history of the world grew up with modest means. (Okay. But whats that got to do with anything? Some other brilliant people grew up in extravagent circumstances.) Now Sarah Palin is not a Nobel Prize winner and John McCain did not split the atom..... But extraordinary things come from ordinary people every day. (Neither one are ordinary people. And winning a Nobel Prize is very prestigious. And knowing how to split an atom requires an advanced knowledge of physics.) Police , Firemen , Nurses and so on and so on. (All of these careers require college education or training.) |
