it was an awful thing that should have never taken place for sure. But are you aware that over two hundred million native Americans were killed by the united states citizens, the christian men and supposedly civilized European immigrants? Why am i bringing this up? well we see how much aid and help in all areas has been given to the Jewish Israeli nation as of the 40's, now compare this to the way Indians are even treated today by the government - there slaughter was 40 times the amt [give or take] and we continued to break treatise with them and take away the original promised land and even today it is bad, the only hope they have is to open casinos and i hope they use it to take all the white mans money they possibly can, not out of greed but out of recompense they deserve, no offense to the Jews or other peoples slaughter unmercifully, but non compares to what happened here to the first peoples in this ""god worshipping"" country!! Okay, I should keep my mouth shut, but those that know me, know I cannot. How in the world can you compare what the first settlers did to the Native Americans (remember that Christopher Columbus called them Indians because he got lost and was supposed to be in India) to what the Nazi's did during WWII? Did the first settlers tell everyone in the world they were going to kill off the Native Americans and they can have them if they want them? No. However, remember Hitler told the world he was going to EXTERMINATE all the Jews in Germany. Hmmm, and how many boats were turned away from how many ports? Look it up. As to the aid to Israel, most of that is private donations from individuals not countries. The US stays on Israel's side because Israel is the US's only true ally in the Middle East. Okay, off the soapbox now. S1owhand, I thought we were friends. Why didn't you warn me away? M |

Okay, off the soapbox now. S1owhand, I thought we were friends. Why didn't you warn me away? M Dear Michele, Because, of course, you never need a warning from me. You make your points exceedingly well. What happened to the jews of europe is not what happened to the native americans. These two stories have their own individual descriptions of tragedy both equally horrendous. There is no adequate measure of sadness in the loss of human life and culture, of persecution and injustice. Let us discuss rationally each tragedy on its own terms and not pointlessly try to compare the despair of one set of obvious victims with the agony of another set of the innocently abused. We are all God's children. We are a family. What is hurtful to one diminishes us all. Each life precious beyond description. |
