Topic: And about resurrection?

In a previous thread, bigger, posted a belief, that one day we would all
be resurrected as Jesus was. Brought to mind an old question that
always generated some good discussion. So here I go.

What do you know of the Christian belief stated above. Is there any
other religion that has it? Also, did Jesus actually ascend to heaven
in physical form, does that mean that we/some are to be transported
physically to another existance and is this not similar to Karma?

Hi Redykeulous
First of all It was not proven yet ... that Jesus Christ was
resurrected.

Second of all, you've mention term karma Do you have any ideas what
does Karma mean?

Just try to take in consideration that
this term cannot be easyly translated into English

because there is no simular terms in Western spiritiual beliefs and
traditions

Sorry Prussia, I said Karma, I'm an idiot. I meant to use the word
reincarnation. The point I was making was basically that, if the
physical body is actually resurrected, would that not be like
reincarnation - which Christians do not believe in.

Did I make that clearer now? I always wonder how much of the
resurrection information Christians believe in. Basically because I can
not fathom spending eternity in "this" physical body in a some perfect
world. To me, it's the imperfections, the searching for truth, the
wonder of being less than all-knowing that make this physical life worth
living. How dull it would be without any questions to ask, without any
research to learn.

What do you think?

Absolutely ... I agree ... people have to be curious about something ...
it helps a lot in a Brain Department. But sometimes curiosity may go a
wrong way and to become an obsession ... very tiny line between those
two.Need to be careful yea

What about to be curious and to keep you feet on the ground *Grins*

Redyk: check out 1cor 15,40-50 it talks about the resurrected "body" of
believers.
You bring up an interesting thought about reincarnation,as Christians,
we don't believe in it, but elijah was taken to heaven alive, and his
spirit returned in John the baptist.
check out Matt 5,18

Jesus wasnt the only person resurrected in the Bible. He wasnt the
first, or the last (Lazerus, the Centurian's child, the young girl who
fell out the window in Acts, several anonymous dead brought to life also
mentioned in Acts). He wasnt even the only person who ascended into
heaven (Elijah comes to mind).

Judiasim shares the bodily-resurrection belief.

Islam states that Mohammed ascended in to heaven.

Hinduism states reincarnation as a basic tennent - although not quite
'resurrection' the way your question was positioned, it's related.

I'll take the bait and say that I beleive Jesus ascended bodily into
heaven, just like Elijah did. Interestingly, the post-crucifixtion
appearances of Jesus are all described with "I saw someone, then I
realized that it was Jesus..." which I would say fits better into your
'different karma-state' theory.

I cain't remember exactly, but there was another that was, or will be,
recarnated according to the bible. That is why it is strange to me that
christians don't believe in reincarnation. According to the book of
REV., two witness that never saw physical death will be reincarnated in
the later days to stand against the anti-christ. They are to preach by
the temple wall untill thier due time. Also, after Jesuses PHYSICAL
death, he did return to earth and spoke to his deciples, according to
the bible. Even coming back in the same body or form is still
reincarnation.

I don't know about other "Christians" but I can tell you if you believe
in resurrections why wouldn't you believe in reincartions? As stated in
previous posts on this thread it is a natural idea if you believe in the
bible and its teachings that they co-exist.

Is resurection solely a way to control those who believe that a soul
will dwell in pergatory for thier sins . Is reincarnation denied for
this very same reason? If you are intelligent, common sense tells you
that something isn't right. How can one occur if the other is rejected?

If you believe life after death in soul form and pergatory then how long
will you reside in pergatory? Forever? Some teach you will suffer in
pergatory for 1000 yrs for your sins. Is that really that long for an
eternal soul? If you believe in reincarnation how long before you return
here? What will you return as? Human? An ant? Several belief systems
teach to be kind to all living beings/animals/plants, they might just be
a relative in spirit form. Could this be true? I am truly not concerned
about some of these things, they are not answers anyone is able to make
without having Faith in the idea.

Now that I have tossed these ideas into the mix of resurection and
reincarnation why do you think the Hierarchy of the churches teach there
is no reincarnation? Maybe because they have no answers? OR Are the
answers hidden away in some vault of information useless or otherwise
from the all inquiring public?

Personally I think the info is in the back of our own minds. I mean we
only use a small portion of this thing we call a brain, and the rest of
it is probably a storage area for things yet to be seen.

I for one believe in the possiblity that we will return to this living
hell more than once. It may be that I could think this is the pergatory
of fables or it may be that I believe in reincarnation. In either case
it goes against some of the teachings of "Christian" Faiths and I am
always questioning the path I am walking. It seems to suit my ability to
gain knowledge from others like myself.

“First of all It was not proven yet ... that Jesus Christ was
resurrected.”

The only proof I need is that so many saw it and where willing to die
rather than say they hadn’t. Why die for a lie you made up?

Yea, lots to think about. Mostly I have to say, I've never talked with
so many people about this subject, who actually have "thought" about
this subject in the Christian light. I'm amazed that you all have
considered it, even if it was just as a reference point in your faith.

I have to get mushey for a minute, I feel so priviledged to be
discussing these topice with all of you. Thanks for thinking with me.

Ok - I'm going to try an experiment in the General discussion. Want to
see if I can get any "real" responces. Would like to see how others
view mmmm extended existence, without making it sound too religious.
I'll be back let ya all know if I get any responces that might be note
worthy.
