If they start out with "they are in love with you", ask for money
because someone just died or is dying and they need to get home and will pay you back as long as you give them your banking info and if they want your personal email address before they know anything about you-basically giving you tooooo much info right out of the hat and showering you with all the icky love stuff!! Be careful-- |

In my experience, what happens is I get an unsolicited message from a
female member of whatever site it is. There's usually a picture, one that raises suspicions simply by depicting someone who obviously is (or should be) a model. The message is almost always written in horribly fractured English, and almost always corresponds to the kind of structure that you would expect a Russian person with a very limited knowledge of English to sound like. (After receiving enough of these, the patterns of language become familiar. I've even done parody posts about this.) The person always says that they saw your profile and really liked it and "I would more better to like to know you," or something to that effect. On sites where they keep track of who has viewed your profile, these people never show up on the list. So they haven't actually seen your profile at all, it's just part of the scam to make you think they're interested. They always provide a different e-mail address, and ask you to write them there, instead of communicating through the site where they have already been able to contact you! I'm guessing that's because the addresses they want you to write to are always Yahoo (disposable), and they probably would rather have that one reported than have their actual dating site account shut down for scamming. If you contact them (I've never done this, but I've talked to people who have), there will eventually be a story about how they need money to buy a plane ticket to fly to the U.S. and be with you and love you and take care of you forever and wash your car and your dog and put up aluminum siding for you, or whatever. You send them the money and you never hear from them again. There are other scams, like the famous Nigerian one where the son of the Minister of Housing or something offers you 17 million dollars if you'll just send him a couple thousand so he can take care of the paperwork. Same scam, different incentive. |

I just experienced this on Yahoo, This person had pictures that looked
like a model. He did not want to communicate through Yahoo Personals e-mail. I chatted with him for about 2 days before he told me that he was from the UK, Liverpool to be exact and he was working in Africa. His profile said that he lived in Media, Pa. he asked me where I worked, thinking he lived in the area I shared my company name. He started sending all of these love e-mails I told him that he was moving way to fast especially since he lives in the UK. Then I received a delivery to my office of Flowers and Godiva Chocolates from him. This freaked me out, because he had to do research in order to find address of my Company. I IM'd him to thank him and once again expressed my concerns. He told me that his mom lives in Media and he is moving to the US as soon as his work is done in Africa (which was supposed to be the next Saturday), even gave an address in Media where he was moving (My friend checked it out the street address does not exist). The next day he IM'd me saying that he lost his wallet and would I send him money for plane fare to US, because he loves me so and wants to see me and his mom. Well, I will not go into the details of my response, but this was certainly a lesson learned. On the positive side I did get flowers and chocolates lol, Good luck in your search and be careful |

Yeah i had an "aquaintance" who was once desperate for a real woman and
I am not sure what site he was on, but he found a very beautiful russian woman that was willing to come over and marry him, but the people that she was staying with needed money $1500 to be exact, and with him being so gullible he had sent the money via western union, well of course we all know what had happened he never heard from her again, but myself I was almost scammed by a guy in Nigeria and he pleaded a good story, so my point being is that no matter where you are, there are the good, the bad n the ugly. |
