Youre right .. and raping people , killing them, selling drugs, those arent socially acceptable. The people who do these things KNOW they are wrong and they know if they get caught theyre going to jail... Who are "they" ... "They" are the men and women in the prisons in our country.. 9 out of 10 convicted felons in our prisons are in fact guilty... so...its ok if one innocent person is put to death as long as the other nine get whats coming to them?...what if you were that innocent person? you need to go back and read all the posts.. i dont agree with the death penalty.. we are talking about why someone should have to pay to keep people in prison.. really go back and read |

You said you keep in mind it could be you.. i said i dont think that way.. it cant be me because dont put myself in a position for it to be me.. theres nothing wrong with wanting to help people.. its noble and like i said some can be rehabilitated and some cant..you think you can rehabilitate charles manson??? What is the law... that question is to general to answer.. you know what the laws are.. we all do, some of us to choose to follow them and some dont.. if we didnt have them this world would be alot worse off then it is now.. |

No some laws vary from state to state..
but we all know as intelligent people we dont kill other people we dont rape people we dont molest children we dont sell drugs... it isnt that hard.. And then after we do something stupid.. like killing someone.. then we go to prison, then all of a sudden we find god, we repent , i have to call Bullsh!t on that.. I dont believe it for the most part.. i also dont believe every single person in prison can come out of it being a decent human being... i will gladly continue to pay for them to be locked up |

Poverty is not the only reason for crime...
(3 months away from Masters in CJ this is what I do ) There are many reasons for crime...poverty being one of them Is there no god in prison...of course there is.. if thats what you believe in.. there is no redemption you ask..the only person that can redeem you of anything is god.. whatever god you believe in.. but you dont get to play the god card because you think itll make people look at you differently.. pity you, empathize with you.. and thats why alot of the people in prison do it.. you wanna quote all these stats which btw are NOT correct, do you know how many people reoffend and wind up back in prison once theyve been redeemed and found god?? Like I said some (most) can not be rehabilitated.. you never answered my question Lee... do you really think you can rehab. Manson? What about Richard Ramirez? Can rehab. him? People have to WANT the help they are offered to have a fighting chance.. Most of these people who you claim are innocent, feel like THEYVE been wronged in some way and dont except the help offered.. Sure you can court order them to counceling or other offender based programs.. it doesnt work.. they go because they HAVE to go.. Good luck fixing the world Lee, youre gonna need it.. |

Poverty is not the only reason for crime...
1. The main one (3 months away from Masters in CJ this is what I do ) 2. Then you have a vested interest. There are many reasons for crime...poverty being one of them 3.The main one Is there no god in prison...of course there is.. if thats what you believe in.. 4.Yes it is. there is no redemption you ask..the only person that can redeem you of anything is god.. whatever god you believe in.. 5.I know that but you dont get to play the god card because you think itll make people look at you differently.. pity you, empathize with you.. and thats why alot of the people in prison do it.. 6.How do you know that? How would that be different than anyone else? you wanna quote all these stats which btw are NOT correct, do you know how many people reoffend and wind up back in prison once theyve been redeemed and found god?? 7.Then they didnt find god.How is that any different than anyone else? Like I said some (most) can not be rehabilitated.. 8.Maybe they dont need it. Depends on what rehabilitation is. you never answered my question Lee... do you really think you can rehab. Manson? What about Richard Ramirez? Can rehab. him? 9.Depends on what you mean by rehabilitation. I doubt at his age Manson is a threat to anyone anymore (except himself). Real serial killers like Ramirez should probably stay imprisoned.Whats that got to do with everyone else? People have to WANT the help they are offered to have a fighting chance.. Most of these people who you claim are innocent, feel like THEYVE been wronged in some way and dont except the help offered.. Sure you can court order them to counceling or other offender based programs.. it doesnt work.. they go because they HAVE to go.. 10.Most people feel wronged in some way. Didnt know it was a problem. How doesnt it work? Why not? Who is the judge and what is trying to be "worked"? Good luck fixing the world Lee, youre gonna need it.. 11.Somebody has to try. |

Serial criminals reoffend, it is in their nature to do so otherwise we wouldn't call them serial killers, rapists, whatever. Rehabilitation is silly, I'm sorry, but it is. Same goes for drug rehab and alcholic anonymous...if you want to change you can change with little to no help at all. What kind of society needs to be reminded daily that something is bad?

I saw a movie last night called 'Redemption' based on a true story about a man that started a criminal gang that ended up spreading so far there was no stopping it. Blacks killing their own, killing innocent people, children that were in the way. He went to prison and lived on death row for 6 years. In that time he came to realize his mistakes and completely turned his beliefs around. He created a book with the help of a journalist who was very interested in his life story. He then created a series of childrens books that taught about gangs and how terrible they are. These books became famous in the US, Japan, Europe and other countries. He received a Nobel Prize for Peace. Many appeals to extend his stay in prison even try to be freed eventually were all denied. He was put to death in December 2005 on schedule. Do you think this man was rightfully put to death or do you think he should have been able to continue his teachings? |

Same goes for drug rehab and alcholic anonymous...if you want to change you can change with little to no help at all. What kind of society needs to be reminded daily that something is bad? Sociological the reason they reoffend is because it is what they are good at, serial killers kill because they 'think' they can get away with it...they become good at it and decide they were meant to do it. A lot of it is psychological, in their head they are making the call...life or death, a power stroke. Serial offenders believe they have the control, they drag along police (Zodiac, BTK, Bundy, etc.) for a show and they get attention from it...indeed serial is a title given by an outside source (usually law enforcement will give the title for repeat crimes of the same nature) and the media doesn't help but fuel it...but to say that someone can be rehabbed out of doing it again is silly, again what kind of society needs to be reminded on a daily basis not to kill, rape, or torment others? |
