I have been a vegetarian since the beginning of this summer and now I have transitioned into the vegan diet. It's a bit weird though...I have gained a little bit of weight(about 5 pounds). I was wondering if any of you are practicing the vegan diet..and if so, did you gain any weight?

are you replacing meat with an abundance of rice, pasta, and bread like most vegetarians do? you could also be dehydrated and your body is retaining water. drink LOTS of water and green tea. drinker

Nope...mostly vegetables and fruit. I have been drinking as much water as I can, but I may need to be drinking more.

some fruits and veggies are loaded with sugar so beware. also, lack of protein in your diet opens the door for fat to take over.

solution: eat a big juicy steak! mmmmm drool

Lol. I think that I may be missing some protein. I'll probably buy some beans or tofu the next time I go grocery shopping.

i was a veggie for 3 years (not vegan, i looove cheese) and i had to take vitamin supplements. i eventually added fish to my diet and that worked out great. protein is important, that's why we have pointed teeth :tongue:
