A hundred times
I have dreamt of your arrival But a thousand awakenings is more than I need of truth All I need of my reality… When I was five They told me You were out there One day you would be mine and the world would never be the same At sixteen I was assured that I was still too young And had plenty of time Then twenty five Came and passed Again I was led to believe... Believe that we all get happy endings Believe that when it happens I would just…know But these are the same people who tricked me into believing in a jolly old man whose sole purpose is to deliver toys to all the good little boys and girls of the world How cruel a thing to do to children How harsh a seed to plant into the heart of abundant hope I understand it is the spirit of the season Not the red suit So I have waited Each departing year as cold as the one before… Tonight the moon looked close enough to touch The air was a little different this week The squirrels a little busier Soon, even the leaves will explode with a colorful voice Only to fall in a violent Silent protest In vain Oh god, I can’t take another winter here kc08 |
