All I know those credit card apps I would toss them in the trash. I have been working on getting out of depth for the last few years before the chit hits the fan I have no desire to loose what I have gotten so playing it smart and getting out of depth.

At times if it gets too bad some I have known have had to move to where the jobs are. Like with Halliburton they are a gas company one has to apply online to them they are based all over the US and you don't have to have experience to work in the field in order to get a job just at times willing to relocate and work the hours. My son has been working for them for a year now.

If I didn't work 3rd shift I probably wouldn't have my job right now. the company just laid off a third of it's workforce.

Try getting into the medical field. Lot's of jobs and decent benefits.

Ya know it's funny you say that, I thought the same thing, That's a field there will always be a need for!!

The medical field is no guarantee unless you are a nurse or doctor, maybe an aide, technical staff as in radiology, etc. The hospitals are trimming staff too.

For the last month or so I have had 6-8 hours on my paycheck of leave without pay as I have run out of work (that is after using the leave I accrue each pay period to fill in the blanks). So, I am getting nervous myself. I just took on a 2nd job about 3 weeks ago, was hoping to make extra money though, not just fill in what I am missing at my "real" job.

Yeah I had told a friend of mine that was out of work she should move to Texas shsh the Hospitals are always hiring. Adds in the paper or several lines long for Medical type jobs. It is a good field to be in.

Pats - check into job retraining grants too, you may be able to get some schooling funded for some training. Worth looking into.

Look at it as a way to revamp your life. Go back to school and find something you love (bonus when you can get paid for it..lol).

I work as a tech and I don't forsee my job being cut. There are too many sick people (plus the hospital doesn't want to pay all of the nurses they'd have to hire to fill in the holes for us "lower" people..haha).

Indiana is the same. Tons of job adds for medical.
